Hung cabinet in guest bathroom, built night stand for guest bedroom, hung front sheet metal on the 47, went shopping for bath towels, shower curtains and doggy treats.(I enjoyed looking for the doggy treats)
    Surfed the H.a.M.B.
Went to Outback for a little food.

Pulled the motor out of my 64 Bonneville, moved trash out of my latest score, a 1958 46 foot Great Lakes travel trailer, drank a double boliermaker and read a cheesy detective novel. BURP.

well i can actually post on this subject this time around...and with any luck, with pictures as well....
first of all i fixed the cracks in my steering wheel and gave it a fresh coat of paint.

and second, i installed the floor shift and cobbled together a new "trans hump" i'm just happy to not have that damn column shift any more.

continued work on the fenders for the 46, trying to make rounded fenders out of whupped up pieces of **** [IMG]
also tried out the new hvlp gun....what a concept, material on the metal instead of m***ive waste...shot this new martin-senour sealer, kinda cool color, but almost looks like final paint...nice sheen, a bit too nice for what i was trying to achieve, guess a call to the tech people to see if i can flatten things out a bit. also worked on the at***ude adjustment arera, ( back patio ).
Saw Fred Eaglesmith sat nite @ Sons of Hermann....great show, any guy that sings about Drivin 105, and a cobrajet 428 in a pickup is my kind of guy [IMG] [IMG]

This weekend I took my 31 Chev death rod out for it's first drive in 28 years! I got the car last fall from a former Toppers Club member. He moved away to Colorado in 76 and the car had not seen the light of day since then. 283 w/3spd and a '58 Chev rear. I rebuilt the carb, master cyl and put on new rims and tires. The steering is still kinda loose so I may need to upgrade the box, I plan on pulling my camper to 50's this year with it too.

Despite an advancing case of the Crud (Type A), spent a good part of Saturday in the garage, chasing pinholes in the 54 Chevy pickup's new rear fender. Zap one shut, grind it down. Darken the garage, put a light behind it. There's a couple more. In the early stages of the game it looked like constellations shining through . . . now it's solid enough for a skim coat and paint, finally.

Also took off the bent runningboard and started aligning and straightening the runningboard brackets. Should be able to get new pieces fitted and off to paint this week.

Sunday the Crud won and I worked on achieving oneness with the couch.

    later,
    Steve.

  17. Actually did something! Per Tinbender's excellent post, I got the doors out of the loft, put on the '38. Bolted the body to the frame at the corners, used hoist, Porta-power (sp?), hydraulic floor jack and C-clamp to get even gaps in the doors in the openings...now ready for reinforcements, and cut out the floor for replacement!!!

It's amazing how much more slammed it looks with doors on it...

Drug home a 72 skylark for donor parts - and ebay fodder to fund the bucket, mocked up the bucket on the frame, cleaned out the shop, towed a 89 S 10 for a buddy of mine to put a SBC in and I get the 4 cyl for free! [IMG]

Looked at houses, bought new wheels and tires for my wife's daily driver, fabbed up a shock crossmember, mocked up an engine and put the body on with Emilio. Sunday I put an offer on a house. I'll finally have my own garage.

It's not exciting, just pluggin' away at paintstripping the bed box (man, how it's tatooed in there in some spots, with deep scratches filled with deep rust in the scratches), started to deep-rust neutralize it and the rear fenders, today I'll start re-filling the fenders.
My girlfriend's ex and his wife brought two of her teens back, yesterday, I was updating them on the project in the garage (luckily, we get along really well with them, makes so many things easier that way).
They looked over and inquired at a Holley carb in pieces - the 4160 from Plan 9 -, told them how I was teaching Abe (the least handy of the bunch) to rebuild a carb. Abe's the one pictured with a a 4150 we'd disected but opted not to rebuild, yet.
"ABE?!", they exclaimed. "How'd you get him interested?" Well, sometimes one isn't given a choice. Time to start learning teamwork on stuff, y'know?
We're getting back on the carb, btw, just got sidelined by the bodywork. Sending for a rebuild book, so's not to get lost.
Felt good to get 'em surprised like that, though. [IMG]
Then the power went out on our part of the block, accept for the garage power, so it paid off getting more work done before Work, last night.
