Are there varying widths on some A rear springs? I have gotten the recommendation to use an "A" rear spring on my chassis (rear A xmember) with a '36 (I think) rear under it. The stock spring that came on the rear is obviously too wide to fit up in the A crossmember, and the obvious assumption is that the A spring will fit. However, the distance between the eyes on the '36 spring looks to be 44" c2c. I swear that a while back, I measured an A spring that was out of a car and it was something like 39" eye to eye. Seems quite a bit off. Does it just need to stretch to fit in there?

The perch center to perch center dimension for an A spring is 47-1/4" if that helps.

  3. You have to stretch an A spring quite a bit to fit it
