Hey guys I’ve got a stock ‘63 Impala without a/c. I have heard of vintageair a/c kits and was considering one but heard they’ve been having problems and the price. I just heard about electric a/c kits on eBay for like $600.
Is this too good to be true? Can I add this to my impala without too much hassle, expense and not cramping out after a year since it’s made in China?

  3. I just read this article a few days ago so it is a fresh in my head.
This is what vintage air says about electric AC

Now that being said, I am pretty sure the Tesla is electric AC and I would imagine most of the new hybrids are probably electric AC but I also can just about guarantee they require a ton of amperage (watts) and time and technology doesn't seem to have changed this much over the last 30 or 40 years.

It won't work. Use the search function. It's been discussed several times.

Search for "electric air conditioner" and "electric air conditioning".

There is a good AC thread going here, you should read it. Real AC only kits start at $1000 and go up from there.

Do you have a link to the thread? I’ve not noticed it before.
Or are you speaking of the one regarding vents?

electric air conditioning is off topic. this is a traditional hot rod forum that focuses on 1965 and older build styles.....
