Hot Rods Wow...22 years ago...

Thanks Boys, I had a lot fun with #7, on and off the track. It was a fiberglass body and a bunch of rusty early Ford parts.

 

Marty, I’m in awe of the work you do. A true master of your craft.

 

22 years ago I was graduating high school, and no less obsessed with old cars.

 

The true master of his craft is Mr Norwell, on art, car selection and building.

 

Even 60 years ago the Army gave me a Roadster to drive. See Avitar.

 

Almost 24 years ago, me at the Road Agents Rockabilly Rumble East Hartford Conn. (in 2000 18 years old two weeks after my high school graduation), Period correct hot rods, customs, and racecars only no tweed no billet!

I am no trend chaser!

 

They wouldn't let my shoebox in.

 

I got my first hot rod 50 years ago in 1974, when I was much thinner and had different colored hair.

It lasted a year before I tore it completely apart and started over.


Now, 50 years later, I still have the same car, but both it and I have changed over the years.

...and I have added to the collection...

 

50 years ago [-1] top pic notice hair stinking out of helmet, bottom pic last fall, about 45 lbs heavier, a lot grayer, way more face hair, same shoebox..

 

60+ years ago I was at Fontana "Drag City" driving up and giving the TV crew from BBC in London an interview about what this old car with a "Corvette" engine and Cadillac transmission was all about. Luckily I unloaded it about 57 years later.

 

50 years ago on the way to the body shop. Last year, same paint job and hair

 

I am still relatively new, as a member of the H.A.M.B.

But I did happen to notice that today marks 5 years ago, when on this day, I officially joined the
H.A.M.B. as a member.

I retired on April 16th, 2019, from FOSS Maritime Co.

22 year's ago, I was still driving the delivery truck for BALLARD HARDWARE.

High school 1967, 30 coupe, bone stock…. 2021, 31 coupe hot rod I still own

 

This must now be the old picture memory thread.

I had a lot more hair (and more natural curls in that hair) when I was younger. This was the family picture near Christmas time in 1981. This picture is a 26 yo me, my wife, carrying our future son, and our 3 1/2 year old daughter. Our son was born in Feb 1982. I was working in heavy machine repair at a brass and aluminum forge company during the days and pulling wrenches on customer's cars in a rented garage at night. That was about as clean as my hand became back then.

I swear I remember seeing it there, maybe I saw it in the spectator parking lot.

The parking lot was better then than 90% of most of the local shows!

 

"I still have my hair, but my head looks like it wore out 3 bodies" - Epic, I'm going to have to use this.

 

30+ yrs ago I was taking this truck cab off with my bare hands and pressing small block chevys over my head, nowadays not so much. LOL

 

Not 22, but 20 yrs ago I was 25yrs old and cruising all over Texas in my '54 Ford daily driver. Even when it snowed for the first time in 100 years in Corpus Christi on Christmas Eve. That was about 30lbs less and a lot of brown hair ago.

 

As long we're going back in time...1969 again, 55 years ago
