Some, but not all Nicson intakes were set up the same way.

IMG_5311.jpeg IMG_5312.jpeg Driveshaft in. Junkyard driveshaft with a bastard joint someone in the hamb helped me figure out. Starting to run brake lines now. Thinking I may remove a few of this stuff I installed so I can spray the frame and floorboards.

Moving to the engine now. Had to run the intake exhaust surfaces across the belt sander. The intake runners stuck out 3/16” past the exhaust runners. Next up I slotted the mounts on the intake so I can run the smaller carb bases for the zenith carbs.

Coming together. Fired it up on 2 carbs today. I still need to build linkage and rebuild the carbs and run exhaust. Front carb was leaking out the throttle shaft. Might just be a dirty float needle. A lot of fine tuning still to go.

Don’t laugh, I traded for an exhaust bender a couple years ago and finally fired it up. No idea what I’m doing, but I ran the exhaust the last few days. Also got the floor sprayed top and bottom and ran the rest of the brake lines.

You're going to have a great car when it's done. My son has a '50 convert that belonged to my dad. I took care of it after my dad passed. I had a problem with bending intake pushrods. The ethanol gas dissolved the glue in the fuel pump diaphragm and it accumulated on the intake valves stems causing them to stick. I rebuilt the fuel pump with a modern kit and it is fine now. I got the kit from Chevs of the 40s.

I finally found some elements to fit my filter housings. Also got a new water pump and pressed the shaft in and cut it off to fit with the correct 3/8 pulley now. New rear shocks go on tomorrow.

She took a hit in the back and passenger door at some point while being stored before I got it. I’m not up for the time and money it would take to get a repaint on her. I did try to massage some of the dents today. I’m obviously no body man. Here are some befores

This will have to be good enough until she one day gets stripped down for a paint job. IMG_6006.jpeg IMG_6008.jpeg IMG_6007.jpeg IMG_6009.jpeg IMG_6011.jpeg IMG_6012.jpeg
