I think that 4" looks pretty good, hopefully that will give you enough room!

That's what I'm hoping. Doesn't look out of proportion to me and maybe enough room to be comfortable.

The 509 model has a longer hood with the same cab and fenders. Just move the cab back and lengthen the frame

The frame is not the problem, I have to build an entire new bed anyway. Mine is a Pick up Model 201.

  6. 4" works for me. 6 is just a bit too much.

I'd say the 4" looks better than the 6"........slightly, but I think the 6" looks fine and certainly would give more comfort.
    I'd love to see a photoshop of the 6" with a 2" longer door.........just sayin :D

I previously mentioned that the 4" cab stretch looked good, but I also think that a 6" cab stretch and 2" door stretch that @ekimneirbo was talking about would look good too.

Take what @gene-koning said into consideration before you cut anything. "Having driven many old trucks, my experience tells me that if you extend that cab back 8" to 10" from the point you have the front edge of the vertical tape, and you slide your seat back into that area (the purpose of extending the cab), you are creating a huge blind spot on both sides of the truck."

The blind spot would be no different than a 3 window 32 or 33/4, or a sedan delivery. I drove an A delivery for a few years, you get used to it. That's what mirrors are for.

Hadn't mentioned it before, because I didn't think it would be too relevant to the thread, but..... I'm actually going to put a flip ball gooseneck mount in the bed. I'm building this truck to tow an old Sunrader style camper shell that I took off of an '82' Toyota pickup and made a mini gooseneck. The trailer mount is adjustable up and down so that I can tow it with the Diamond T or my 36 Ford Humpback. Weighs only 2300lbs so far, so position of the ball is not important for towing weight wise but I would like to retain the ability of doing a 90 degree for the uniqueness of the combo. So I'm kinda locked in to no more than the 6" extension. That puts the ball mount about 2" behind the rear end so it still retains the look and capability. I certainly appreciate all the great commen IMG_1014.JPG ts. This is a great site.

I agree,....look at my 33 Chevy 3 window coupe in my avatar. Does anyone think his blind spot will be worse in his truck? And yes, I'm 6'1" and my seat is against the rear of the cab.
Decent mirrors will help, and since he is going to be pulling a trailer, I would imagine they are going to be really good mirrors.
If driving alone, stay stopped at stop signs and red lights, lean way forward, and don't proceed unless you are absolutely sure everything is clear.
If driving with a passenger, having them spot for you helps eliminates the blind spot issue.

I vote for the 6” extension. Nice to have room in the cab & like others said, mirrors are needed especially when towing. How about cut off the back, get a seat in there, get comfy for a long drive, slide up the back portion & see what extension you need. Knew a guy did a model t pickup, think his extension was almost a foot.

Well it has been a whole winter, but I did resolve the "Where to slice" question. I will start posting some more pics as the project moves on, but here is the result so far of a 11", yes 11" slice. Being my first attempt at this kinda thing, I think it turned out ok. I ended up going with this for a number of reasons, main being wife's comfort in sliding and reclining the seat on long trips. Also, my dad drove older trucks like this way back, and I think it looks more like a sleeper cab from back then. IMG_1087.JPG IMG_1113.JPG IMG_1126.JPG

Very nice! Some quarter windows might look good and improve visibility.

Model A quarter windows would look great if the proportions work out.

I definitely appreciate any and all comments, but after I got the stretch finished and painted a bit more, I think I'll skip any porthole windows. Naturally I'm going to run some old school mini west coast truck style mirrors and and waiting on some old #494 cab lights. The guy had three only, and that is exactly what I needed. I finally got the motor and tranny set back in but I'm going to have to modify the frt running board crossbrace for sure. I've got to lower the center section about three inches to clear the pan on the 4L80e. IMG_1133.JPG IMG_1134.JPG

    Looks good!
Quarter windows similar to lower passenger door view window we used to have on semis would work,,Being square they would look more original to the cab. 5” convex mirrors will handle your blind spots.
