Does anyone still make a 5 wire turn signal switch to add on to a column. I am wanting to add turn signals to my 49 Chevy convertible and not go through the brake lights. I bought some led lights that replace the small reflector of the original tail light housing. I want to wire these up to be my turn signals. I just want the simplest switch possible with no hazards either.

You can use any of the available ones and just run separate wires to the turn lights just like the old units and not hook up the brake light wire. Most guys run them through the brake light bulbs because they don't want extra lights hanging on the back of their car.

I have heard I need a special flasher for LEDs. Does that mean I need to get the special flasher and convert the front turns to LED also for it to all work since I'm running LEDs for the rear turn signal?

Some times the LEDs don't have enough load to make the flashers work.

  5. The unconverted fronts will probably be enough.
