He missed the production total by about 6500 units! The total for 1936 was 6648. The total for 1935 was 7687. The total for 1937 was 8043. The total for 1938 was 3555. The total for 1934 was 9562. The total for 1933 was 3666. The total for 1932 was 400. There, we finally hit 3 digits, higher than 150, but 3 digits.
There was a cool article in a rod magazine in the very early 70s about 36 deliveries: They showed a pic of an abandoned 36 Deluxe delivery junked out in the so.cal desert or northern Mexico desert...free for the taking. They claimed only a couple hundred were Deluxes. ?? I think they said it was a deluxe because this pic showed chrome horn grilles and something else was chromed.
Didnt rod and custom use a 36 delivery for a project cat in the early 90's if i remember right it was vrown primed with pollished 5spokes and the magizine logo in the 1/4 insert
Somebody a few years back on here had a shot of the remains of one along a river in Iowa I believe. There was a bunch of plans to go and pull it out. I never did see an update whether it happened or not.
Your friend may have been thinking of the deluxe version; there were 209 made in '36 - the remainder all standard models.... Robb
Chrome grille, dual tail lights, R & H, upholstery, and a couple of small (trim?) items I may be forgetting......
does he still ahve this car? or does anybody know who has it? black primer wasn't it,with rod and custom on the panels? or is my CRS kikin in again
Nope, you got***..... It was a '35 with '36 front sheet metal. It had a funky dash with a random pattern of,well, dashes. --------
The car still exists and was "finished", too. I e-mailed Taylor a year or so ago, but he didn't have current pics of it, neither did Tony Thacker..... SOMEONE must have pics....the owner?
