Everything I'm finding says sets in twenty minutes to a half hour. I need time to apply the urethane, get the gl*** set in there, install a piece of rubber trim, then install the stainless trim all of which is held by the urethane. I'm doing this by myself, haven't ever done it before and therefore figure I'm going to be slow as hell. An hour or so of working time would be good and I wouldn't have a problem if it took overnight to set. Any ideas?
My gl*** guy is in the shop, cuts out a liftgate gl***, and installs the new gl*** (or the same one in a different gate) in less than 45 minutes. But then he's a pro. That's why I call him.
There are a few that have slightly longer work times. I think Sika does one that's about 30 minutes and Kent about 40 minutes but long work times are not an attribute gl*** guys are looking for they want faster not slower. @Lloyd's paint & gl*** might have some suggestions.
Gl*** shops in the area won't touch it because it's an older car and not something they're familiar with. I had one shop insist that the gl*** was supposed to be rubber mounted. When I showed him the procedure from the factory shop manual, he said the manual was wrong.
My good old gl*** guy, he retired a few years ago. The guy was as good as gold. I'd suggest a shout-out to LLoyd at LLoyds Gl***. I don't remember his @ right now.
