I'm thinking of buying a 63 dodge pickup.I was wondering if anyone had any pictures of these trucks fixed up.I have a picture
Heres mine, I want to change the wheels badly !!!! I set the axle on top of the leafs front and rear...... Used to be an old Air Force Academy truck. Still has all the data plates and warnings from the "Wing Commander" on the dash/glove box.
Go to: www.sweptline.org www.dodgesweptline.org Both sites have forums. Both sites have tech info. Both sites have very knowledgable members. Both sites have photo galleries. Both sites have classifieds. Both sites have parts resources. Etc., etc., etc...
Big Dad, you should post some more pics of that truck, especially chassis/engine/in-progress pics. The year and upgrades make it a little off topic, but the craftsmanship is top-notch, and it's a showcase for what can be accomplished with these trucks.
Here's a pic of a seriously modified Sweptline Dodge. These are the most underated Dodge truck ever made, absolutely beautiful when done up right. I'd give my nuts for a 68-70 swb, slant/6 auto model.
I've been think of finding you of these myself. When I got my 50 Dodge pick up that I'm working on now there was a chopped 60's stepside sitting in the guys yard. The whole way home I keep thinking about that truck now I can't stop thinking about doing one. I just might put the 50 up for sale and start hunting. Has anybody else put the axles on top of the springs? I'm all about cheap and easy lowering.
Here's my '63 beater/parts getter.... Still haven't decided exactly what to do with it yet. I thought it might make a cool "push truck" with wide whites, lowered a bit and paint the wheels.... Everything in the dash still works!
Nice truck! - I was looking for one of those (or an early 60's Chevy) when I found a good deal on my 69 Chevy.
Those are clean looking trucks when they are fixed up. I learned how to drive in a 1969 D-100, and growing up my dad also had a 1965 D-200 and a 1971 D-100. Old Dodge trucks around here seem to be hard to find that aren't beat to a pulp just like Internationals, they where trucks and where used as trucks, unlike the GM's and Fords or the same era, atleast around here
This one rules.... There was one sittin near my old shop forever.i always thought I should buy that thing, they're kewl. Then as you would know it,it was gone.I saw it driving around for a while, haven't seen it in a long time now. Some killa rides on here......Shiny
My Dad "STEVE ADAMS" own quite a few of these p/u's.Two are the elusize CSS HPP type. One is a 1964 with the optional 413 HP, push button and all and the other is a 1965 CSS HPP with the 426 Wedge HP. Both trucks have been cleared with the regisrty. And Galen has seen the 1964 Truck. I am now driving my 1961 Dart P/u everyday since my R/T's tranny took a shit.
I went the Power Wagon route with my latest toy ... Planning to set it up " Vintage 4x " 19.5's with traction tires etc ... and may try to find an early style front end .... The slammed half toners look great ! ... need one of them too ....
You know I have one located in Portland Oregon 1/2 ton short wide, slut 6, manual. Truck is in very nice shape for what these trucks usally look like, Guy is asking $800.00 cash. If you are intersted pm me and I will take some pics for you next week. Adios Cody
A few years ago I found myself without a truck for the first time since I received my license, so I wrote an essay about my pain and it was printed in my local paper. I was contacted by a little old lady who had taght me Sunday school while I was in Jr. High twenty years before, asking me if i wanted to buy her late husband's pickup. She had kept it parked in her garage since his death and had kept it so her sons and grandsons could have something to drive for errands which needed a truck. Her family had moved away and she was ready to sell the truck. I went to look at it and instantly fell in love. It was a '65 Dodge short wheelbase fleetside with a slant six and three on the tree. I offered her 500.00 and she countered with 250.00. We finally setteled on 400.00 (she would not take a dime more.) I put a battery in it and drove it home. I decided to do a major clean job on the old Dodge, and when I removed the bench seat an old leather briefcase fell out. At first I knew I had to give it to the lady, but it was locked and my curiosity wanted to know what was inside. I opened it with an ax and prybar and found an envelope with nine twenty dollar bills, a half full bottle of Jack Black and a Hustler magazine from December, 1977. I returned the cash. Actually, I returned some of the cash. The lady did not want to take it, and finally made me keep 40.00 to cover my time and gas. I drove the grey ghost,(my name for the old Dodge truck,) for over a year. I finally bought a new truck,(I needed reliable transportation,) and had to sell the grey ghost. I placed an add in a trade rag and priced her for 800.00, and sold her within 48 hours. That was the best truck I have ever owned, and now I miss the grey ghost .
