I'm about 14 years too late on this post, but going back and reading these posts, it's great and sad to see posts from Bill (G-willys) on here. I'm glad a platform like this exists to allow just a bit of his knowledge of these cars to live on. There is nothing that hasn't already been answered that I can add input to, but I own a factory '38 factory 2 dr, and a couple indications that it is a true 2dr are the garnish moldings, the front seats were fold-down buckets, rather than a bench seat, and if in good enough shape, there would be a wooden bow that surrounds the back windows that the interior steel panel would mount to. As Bill had mentioned, Willys kept pretty bad records, so there is no definite number as to how many were made, but certainly not many. Here is a few pictures of my sedan as an old rod back in the 70's or early 80's.
