1959 Oldsmobile 4 door station wagon custom Nomad

    Hello,

The year of 1959 had some unusual hardtop sedans. Big wide open window down look that the 4 windows made a wide open space for cruising. The GM factory had the line up in most models and they all gave their lines an upper class look for the normally stodgy 4 door sedans.

But, the one model they forgot was the inclusion of the same 4 door hardtop look, added into the Nomad style for the station wagons. It would have sold a ton of models as it had a classy style. For the families, a front opening rear door would make access so much easier for all activities.

Hot rod/custom folks would have had a field day with the 4 window down, wide open spaces look. But, for the Buick folks, allowing the loan of a set of Skylark Wire Wheels would have added to the Oldsmobile lineup for this 4 door model.

I drew an earlier 2 door version of a 1959 Chevy Impala 2 door station wagon, custom front opening doors, slight rake, custom wire Skylark Wire Wheels + Nomad style. But, for some reason, the wide open 4 door version looked better in all different GM models. One day, when finished, all GM versions will be drawn and compared. YRMV

Happy "FAS" post 4th of July to everyone.
    I love station wagons.

This very cool, one year only model, 1960 Ford Country Sedan wagon, belongs to a very good friend of mine, that is a well known hot rodder and collector here in the Pacific Northwest.

    The paint is original.

The wheels were not my favorite, as they were on the car when he bought it.

There are only 3 of these currently being offered for sale in the USA.
These cars are hard to come by.

WOW, what ever happened to the good old days, of when you opened the hood of a car, and you could actually identify everything under the hood, and could actually have access to the various areas and components that made it run?

You all have a great weekend.
    Thanks from Dennis.

A heads up to anyone that is interested in the thread over on the antiquated forum, check out my build thread titled,

    "FORD COE HEADLIGHT UPDATE"
I posted 3 video's yesterday, that show the headlight actually working.

    Enjoy.

This is off a plastic bag from Bob Drake, I was buying some parts from him at the Pomona Swap Meet about 20 years ago. When Bob put them in the Bag, I mentioned that I really liked the bag, he said one of his favorite Pin Stripers was "Tommy the Greek" Hrones. Not sure who the artis was? But Very Cool. See Tommy "The Greek" Tribute at www.herbmartinez.com. Herb did a great story about him!

Buy, borrow, beg or steal a copy of The Rodders Journal issue #86. There's a great feature on that artist. His name was Roy C. Jones. He did most if not all of Bob Drake Reproductions' catalog artwork for years ,including some limited edition signed lithographs. I have one of those prints, titled "The Ultimate Legacy", hanging on my wall. He was an extremely talented and under-appreciated artist. Unfortunately, we lost him to cancer around 20 years ago but his wonderful artwork lives on.
Thanks for posting that, and thanks also to all you talented folks who do the same every week.

here's a 55 wagon version of my avatar I drew many moons ago. started with a rough pencil sketch, sharpie pen over that, then took a picture and cleaned it up on the computer. :)

  25. Channeled (by me) '34 aussie sedan. These had wood frames. I really like aussie 32-34 sedans.
