I live in a town called Cheektowaga, NY near Buffalo. We got hammered thursday and friday with an unpredicted storm over 2 ft of heavy wet snow. It's pretty bad. Luckily my power wasn't out long only like 30 hours. I have a wood stove and about 10 cord so we're ok. There are like 400,000 people without power and all the stores and gas stations are closed. Here's alink to more pics http://s33.photobucket.com/albums/d91/Widowmaker63/Fri%2013%202006/?sc=1&addtype=local
Yeah, but the snow will melt in a few days. When a hurricane hits, your house & possesions are gone....... Guess I'll stick with the snow and winter or as we call it, "Car Building Season."
We had our first rain of the season last night and this morning. Some lightning and thunder too. It was only 1/4" but most of it fell between 5:30 and 6:00 AM. Rattled the hell out of the (traditional '50's?) aluminum awnings! We get the edge of hurricanes here which just means higher humidity and gnarly surf. About an hour's drive North of here in the local mountains it's snowing but it's still Tshirt weather down here at the Beach. Sucks living in Paradise
no rain up here in the central coast, just a little cold and foggy. move out to california. the cars dont rust, it doesnt snow, no hurricanes, and houses cost about 5x what they are actually worth... earthquakes and smog arent that bad either... -j
That looks bad, I hope you house and property scaved. that heavy snow will tear the hell out of nice old trees. Stay Warm!!!
the last hurricane missed us and went up there to western N.Y. !! guess your not safe anywhere.........
Ya ya ya..and all the weathermen were on "STORM WATCH 06" And if you would have had a 1/2'' of rain the whole southern basin would have been shut down ..do to the 91 being flooded..and rendered useless....hahahaah ask me how I know.....
...suddenly $500,000. for a condo in the San Francisco bay area doesn't sound too bad. it was 70 yesterday, though it is a bit chilly this morning... like 60.
that's funny, the snow is the reason i left Minnesota and moved to Colorado! really! i haven't shoveled snow in five years now.
The reason that the branches all break is that the leaves have not fallen yet (too early) and the weight of the snow builds up too much. I miss them days of walking to school backwards(40 below) and 10-15 foot drifts! Going for a dip in the pool for a bit.....KNUX!
the only 500K house I have seen for sale locally came with 400acres. (was a 5 bedroom 4 bath house with pool and 60x100 barn)
Looks like things around here last November (stuck around for weeks, too) and then again in January. (Sometimes I miss L.A.) Maybe a snow blower for a 20th anniversary gift isn't such a bad idea after all.
