This is just an MG but that sports car thing is mighty attractive. This belongs to a friend of my son, he restored it with his grandfather (I think he said). Sexy little cars. Needs a V8
I drove the healey to work today. What a fun car to drive. It has been 3 years since I drove this car.It has changed a little bit.
Curious about rear suspension. Pictures of frame show 4 tube mounts on each frame rail. Think I see independent rear & 4 links to axle. Extra tubes to lower link bars? Have you tried lower mounts? What rear is it? Great build!! Have you weighted it? Checked front to rear weight?
Oops, went back to re-read & see first post you said c4 zr1 rear: very nice. Looks like aluminum heads on 302. Questions on link mounts & weight still open
I weighed it without interior and exhaust. I am going to weigh it on all four corners asap. The extra tubes are to lower it. It is too low on those settings.
Wow, 53% on the rear that sucker should be a great ride. Adjust coil overs for bit more on passenger side, some big fat soft slicks & terrorize the local sports car crowd. Have fun
I am pretty happy with my weight per wheel. This car hooks up pretty good, but it does push the frontend in the corners. I will mess with the alignment and shock pressures and see if I can get this to improve.
I messed with the shock pressure a little, added some air to the front tires and got it to drive like a slot car. I can take my 15 mph corner in front of my house at 40 and it doesnt push. This thing gets more fun with every drive.
You can always try out different paint schemes on the Hot Wheels 1/64 model. All kidding aside that is a sweet car!
There is a version called the BN that has the laid back windshield. I am a real fan of the c4 parts. I threatened to build something similar to this but was never in the right place to get a decent body to start with. IMHO, I believe sporty cars need to be painted. They look classy when finished well. Having the engine and exhaust hidden is a plus for me. Looking forward to finished pics.
Years ago there was a TR6 runnin around here , 300 Cu In Ford . 3 carbs , 5 speed , IRS from Explorer . It was nice finished work , I could drive it !
I figured that I'd throw in an AH that I raced a few years back. It had been wrecked in '58 and mostly re-bodied in aluminum. It had a 265/4-spd back then, so a friend rounded up a factory mule 265 and the boys at HRW and I did the rest. Needless to say it went like stink !!! This was the critter at work in the vintage races at Coronado.
