You ever have one of those moments in front of your kids where you say something like, "I'm buying it for my kids, because all steel might not be around when he gets ready to build one." Well dad made that mistake and I never let him live it down. That was 35 years ago! But since then it's been ***embled tore down stored re***embled, put back into storage. Blah, blah blah. A Derecho hits my area and the shed which it's stored must come down. Guess the car gods must think that NOW is the time to begin.

    We haven't had a Derencho here in 4 1/2 months. I had a 37 1/2 toner in blue in the earlt 70s

Straight wind storm as opposed to swirling wind storms.

A thunderstorm on steroids. 120+ mph straight line winds. Best characterized as a hurricane deep inland. This one stretched from Omaha to Chicago.

    Update: September 26, 2020

90% of the is finally at my place. I am hoping to be able to start squaring up the frame by November 1st. It sort of feels like hunting for Christmas presents that you've stashed around the house as to all the places I had parts tucked away.

January of 2018 in a Facebook group post about a local drag strip turned up another image of my truck. It come from the Tommy Shaw collection, and with some digging I found the owner Davern Lambirth of Knoxville Iowa.

April 2023 update, got the front cross member welded in and have begun to mock up the rear axle brackets. I'm hoping to be on all four tires by July 2023.

Saw this at the Street Rod Nationals last year parked out by the horse barns. Talked to the owner. It was one of my favorites because of its understated appearance. Very driveable looking and I think the 37 can be one of the best looking trucks when built.

    July 2024 UPDATE:
Cab and front sheet metal on. Engine and transmission waiting in the wings for their turn to join the fun. Upper and lower a-arms getting rebuilt. It's been a busy time in the garage lately.

    EARLY AUGUST UPDATE:
Finally getting the engine and transmission mocked up. Waiting on getting the bushings pressed out of the control arms then they are of to blast and paint. Won't be long and it will be on 4 tires. IMG_20240808_123359947_MP.jpg

I feel like I'm just making circles around my problem. So I set the engine low in the rails to avoid having to disturb what little floor there is. I've used a 6" drop transmission cross member and a stock 700r4 circular rear mount. This pushes the transmission upwards. I rotated the weld on mount 90° and it came down a little, but not enough. Even with the frame sitting level it looks to high. I just can not seem to find the happy medium. It seems that I will have to wait until I have it back tires to see just how bad it is, and go from there.
