Have any of you used a company out of San Diego called Vintage Wheels? They show a variety of good looking pin drive knockoff Indy/Sprint style wheels. Pricey but they look nice. Thanks.

Vintage Wheels US. I have them on my roadster. Spendy but they look cool and they are well made. No issues. And you can get them in staggered 16" rear and 15" front unlike Socal. That and they don't have SoCal emblazoned on the outside of the wheels!).

Thanks, I bring those and a floor-jack everywhere I go. Funny, that pic is with the car on my lift, about to set it down on those stands I made. I wasn't completely confident of my design so I eased the car down over a couple of days until they had all the weight of the car and left it here for a few more days in my garage. Last thing I wanted at the Roadster show was a stand to collapse and my car roll across the floor into the Batmobile or the Hirohata Merc.

  5. I have them on my roadster. Very high level of craftsmanship. I’ve had them for 7 years, no problems. Fit & finish are perfect.

    As a side note -

Not...only Indy Cars, but F1 AND...NASCAR (2022) are using pin drive wheels. Along with many of the IMSA cars.
And if you look at Top Fuel, Funny Car and I believe the Alcohol classes are using a form of a "pin" drive wheel. While there are still five studs and nuts...holding the wheels to the axles, there are also five large squarish blocks, machined into the axle flanges that mate with same shaped holes in the wheel flanges.
So in reality, all of the major racing sanctions are using a "pin" drive wheel.

  10. I wonder what the Vintage Wheels weight is like? The SoCal wheels are very heavy compared to the similar Trigo wheels. I have a pair of old Halibrand 16” wheels like this that are about as heavy as the SoCal wheels. Odd, as they are all aluminum and they are all pin drive.

I don't have a weight for you but the rears are mounted on Towel City slicks and I need a floor jack to get them on the car.
