I heard they had changes, but not the Chinese garbage part. I still buy NAPA filters.

I buy oil filters 2 and 3 at a time when I find one I like locally. I have a Wix on my 283 right now. Others at this speed shop are Purolator and Moroso.

go to the store, ask to look at one, see if it says made in china, see how the quality looks to you.

If you don't like it, don't buy it.

I went to our local Oreilly and it’s all Wix now, no more orange boxes, a few Mobil 1 and K&N.

The "sky is falling" guy who created that thread is a *****. They aren't "Chinese junk" and are still good to use.

Harsh words. I think more research needs to be done before p***ing judgment. As far as some Wix filters being made in China, I've read the same thing on other forums. Beware of where you buy them.

Wix has been a Mann + Hummel company since 2016 when Affina Group (who owned them previously) sold out.
"In May 2016, the process of incorporating the global brand WIX Filters into the MANN+HUMMEL group was completed, which resulted in the creation of one of the world's-largest filtration-technology companies." Right off Wix Website.
"WIX Filters are manufactured in all MANN+HUMMEL production plants." Also on the Wix website.

Not everything from China is junk. Some companies have strict guidelines on their products made there, and are regularly inspected to insure they are being made to their standards. What you have to look for are the cut price items and the counterfeit items which can be hard to spot. There were counterfeit semi truck parts a few years ago that fooled even the dealers.

Gonna get to be slim pickens out there if you reject Chinese goods completely.

One failure could be costly, and it would be more than enough for me to look for another product.

I guess to get back to the original question. Napa had always been a wix filter supplier. As of a few years ago their hd gold filters got out sourced to Donaldson and Baldwin depending on which part of the country you are in for air filters. Oil, hydraulic and fuel as far as I've known hadn't changed. And depending on you're quality is regardless still a Mann & Hummel company filter that it has been for the last 9ish years

  25. The only "Made in China" Wix I've come across so far is the low pressure (read carb) fuel filters (and not all of them).......still ran them.

    You're fine with WIX still.

I finf something I like, even on eBay, and bookmark it to buy later. I buy a ton of parts on eBay, some from RA too. Anything I order I have in 2-3 days.

Really, you could have problems with any brand. Several years back, I was using an oil change service on my semi truck that used Baldwin filters, I never had a problem with them. In contrast, a buddy with the same engine in a different brand truck who also used the same oil change place had a fuel filter collapse on him. When it got to the ***mins shop, they told him to get the Baldwin filters off of it and run Donaldson or Fleetguard or they would void his warranty [mine was already out of warranty]. So, on ***mins advice, I changed up and never ran Baldwin again on anything. Was it just one bad filter or were all them substandard? I have no idea, but did find out ***mins was a stockholder in FleetGuard at the time. Maybe that influenced their requirements? Who knows. I know the others were a few bucks more, better or not.

There will never be a final verdict unless there is only one source remaining. I have read most of the threads. and ***ociated articles and videos and it is not that I disagree at all, but let's face it-tens of millions of cars are running around with generic or low-priced filters and when was the last time you knew ( not a fiend of your mother's second cousin's aunt who knew somebody...) of an engine failing because of a filter issue?
