Wanted to mention that the guy building a Speedway kit finished it and took it on Power Tour. Gotta hand it to him, that's a lot of miles on a fresh build and a small car. https://www.youtube.com/@GearHeadzGarageUSA/videos
Guess who made it to the local cruise? Ran a bit warm, but it is over 100 here. Ugly, yes, but it made it there and back no issues. I bolted the step back on the passenger side, but it and the exhaust bump into each other with the floor lower. It's coming back off.
Those trailer wheels really complete the clown car look! Doesn't matter, When appropriate wheels come up used, I'll be ready. Had positive responses, and it drove well. Fired right up each time, too. Forgive me, but didn't offer anyone a seat. Climbing up over the raw body is not easy. EDIT: I'd love to tear it apart, do the floor and bracing then get it in a solid primer, but the point is to enjoy it so I'll just ride ugly for a while. EDIT2: Drove it a bit further Saturday and a little further today, Sunday. Going to have to tune up the lack of suspension, it's bumpy and bottoming out over potholes. I've looked at Moog's catalog to find rear springs that might work. Also need to redo lower front shock mounts and get shocks all around. Will measure toe and squareness today, I hope. I think it's toed out right now, will try to get closer to straight and maybe try toe in too. It does fine while driving, but gets hot sitting, so want to get the short pump and a mechanical fan, too. Small steps. Better to work things out while ugly.
Short term: 1. VW bug size front tires with narrow rims. 2. Rattle can…gloss black, the body, bed, grill shell, head lights, and black primer the plastic electric fan to hide it better. With a little sanding and spraying you should get the fiberglass parts looking halfway respectable in an afternoon!
@A Boner I have thought of spray bombing it many times, but I would have to sand off every bit of it to have a good base for future priming and bodywork. I don't need to create more work for myself. I am not so vain I can't drive an in-progress car. Joke 'em if they can't take a F. I did do the top of the cowl, it has what look like broom-applied primer, so I have to dig through a bunch there. As for wheels and tires, I'm still on the lookout for something better than the stuff it came with and the stuff I threw on.
V6 T-Bucket at a local car show here in Whangarei, New Zealand, 2021... And here is the same car as I owned it in 1983... Glen.
I didn't take this photo so not sure when it was taken, but probably 1990s. The builder (R.I.P) made everything himself including the rocker covers, air scoop, and the brass lights which were from old brass bed ends. It was still being built last time I saw it. It was later rebuilt by someone else... Glen.
My old bucket. I eventually got a 9 second quarter mile out of it, and the following race meeting (NZ Nationals 2013) I snotted it into the concrete wall. Its since had a few owners and is back on the road, fully rebuilt
The first pic at the '72 Nats I'm pretty sure was taken when Paul Lark still had it - it had a chromed Olds rear under it at that time. I believe the chromed Jag rear was installed after Carl got the car. As you'd probably guess, that T was a monster. Larry, a friend of mine, got sorta shell-shocked at a local rod run in '73. Paul had the car there and offered Larry a ride in it. They headed out of town, cruising along somewhere north of 80, Paul said "Watch this" and stabbed the throttle. I think Larry was hanging on to about anything he could grab when he saw the speedo close in on 140 within a matter of seconds. His legs were a bit wobbly after that ride. I've been told that its blown Chrysler mill was one of two that ran in the Gopher State Timing Association's twin-engine gas dragster, de-tuned for the street. Here's a pic of the car I snapped at the '74 Street Rod Nats in St. Paul MN.
I had to Google everything I could think of to find another picture of that car without knowing anything about it. I don’t think there is another blown Hemi powered one out there. Thanks for the history! I hadn’t noticed the different rear suspension but it is obvious now. This is by far the most balls out T-bucket I’ve seen.
It's not a hemi, but this guy covers ownership of a t that's more than normal. www.youtube.com/@Layznc There are a few more videos of some Ts that are more engine stand than transport!
Couldn't agree more. And as far as I know, when Paul Lark had it he drove it to both the Street Rod Nats in Memphis in '71 and Detroit in '72. Carl Kuznia is still listed as an active member of the MSRA but I don't think he has the car anymore. Be interesting to know what happened to it. Thanks for posting those pics up here, I hadn't seen them before.
You know, (post 61) that is art on wheels. And its almost enough to make me want another bucket. Actually, I now do want another bucket QUOTE="A Boner, post: 15279911, member: 4314"] View attachment 6106415 [/QUOTE]

You guys are probably sick of seeing this, but I drove it for the first time in over 2 weeks. I ended up next to this and thought it was funny and a good comparison in size so I grabbed a shot.
It's the parking lot outside the local library. The police station is right behind. I felt bad just idling up and parking!
Actually, if you spray a light coat, it won’t be any harder to get down to the base fiberglass when you choose to do a proper paint job. In the meantime it will look a little bit more presentable, and a little less RR looking!
If you spray a surface that looks like this closeup with cheap paint that could lift, then lay primer over that, it can cause issues. That is my concern. No need to introduce more stuff or sand that deep into the 'glass. However, I've had setbacks that have put off painting for a while. I was going to go get some black spray cans today, but then another thing came up. Ugh. Local car thing tomorrow, and Watson Lake Saturday/Sunday, and no money! http://paacaz.com/wls_overview.html
