hey can anyone who has Hop Up special #3 tell me the name of the shop that built the Real Tijuana Taxi, the yellow tub? thanks a lot, If anyone knows anything more about it feel free to chime in to please. i REALLY like that car, and would LOVE some more info on it.
thanks dude. Anyone else got any other info? like some pictures or anything? I was lookin through my friend's hop up, so sadly i dont own the issue...
Here's a few. When we shot the car about 6 months ago, Matt had graduated Cal Poly SLO and was living in the San Fernando Valley working at Pratt & Whitney (it IS rocket science). The magneto is rare. He had it running but something wasn't right, the driven gear was rattling something fierce on acceleration. Matt had already modified the cover to mount the mag so he pulled the gear and was running a stock dizzy so he could drive it for the shoot. The mag has been modified to work with the manual advance on the column. Apparently this was taxi #8. He knows the brodie knob doesn't belong but with the gl*** laid back, there's only about a quarter of an inch of clearance with the steering wheel and his fingers are at least 3/8.
AWESOME DUDE!!! thanks so much.... I love this car, cant get it out of my mind now after seein it the other day. Somethin about it, it may not be the best looking, but it doesnt even matter, that tub is what its all about..
I agree, it's a pile.. a pile of neat parts but a pile nonetheless. I do have a certain amount of respect for Matt for leaving the body crusty. It wears its history proudly.. a true survivor. haha, I'd say around 40 years. The paint is the best part.
Sitting in a storage place languishing for its owner to bust it back out. Paging Rocketman - Paging Rocketman......
Glad I stumbled across this thread. Saw a single photo of this awhile back but never knew anything else. Great build.
