This is the project that drew me away from working on the 1/4 scale Willys in my avatar. It popped up on Craigslist locally so brought it home. The build is documented on Metalshapers.com, but I went from this to this in the last four years,: And one in between.
Found this thread whilst trying to figure out what your avatar was. I looked at the top photo and thought, that would be nice as a two door…….. Wasn’t expecting how it ended up. - That is very nice !
Thanks Gaz. Austin only built about 15,000 Dorsets as compared to 350,000 Devons from 1947 until 1952. I was able to find decent Dorset doors LOL and patched them up with pieces from my Devon doors.
There's several Dorsetted Devons here in the UK as Dorsets are super rare - the majority were exported as in, you got them! The number of stock ones, you can count on one hand. Over here, a Dorset made from a Devon is known as a Devorset....
Thanks Jon. Too many letters for personalized plate here. Maybe DEVOSET or DEVRSET. I finished most of the interior except carpet and doing some shakedown and speedometer calibration. The front seats are BMW Mini Cooper, and the rear is 2016 Camaro. I'm fighting the calibration, and have a call in to Stewart Warner regarding the drive a mile pulse setting.
The Dorset was almost as bad as the Thames LOL. I have put a sheet of metal in it and started a second sheet. I just want mine to be a cruiser, I have a 305 700R4 / 9 inch. Did you Tub the back of your car or is it stock wheel wells. I can't get Metalshapers.com to work to see more pictures.
Try "https://allmetalshaping.com" and join. There is lots of interest in what you are doing and many skilled builders. My power is a 350 with a 700r4 and a 52" track XKE rear that cleared the inner fender wells so I did not have to tub it. I did widen the rear fenders 3 1/2" to clear the 245's.
