What's not to like. I wouldn't do it any other way (well maybe a manual box but that's just me).

Yes I did Billy, Next up is another favorite year car. I took a 66 Malibu 4door Wagon and am in the process of converting it into a 2door Nomad style build.

Current low buck build, three trucks into one and ending up with a 1956 Chevy 1/2 ton short bed. Jaguar IFS, S10 rear and springs, ranger hangers, monte carlo driveshaft, 5.3/60e fuel injected, 4 wheel disc brakes, etc. $5000 budget for the full build. Tires on the back to simulate weight for suspension setup LOL.

  4. I didn’t even notice the leaning tower of tires until I read your comment. That is classic. :D

That should be a real cool pickup on a budget.

Helped Dad set the dwell on the farm dump truck after changing the points and condenser. 1966 GMC 4000 with a 351 GMC V6.
The GMC V6 distributor caps do not have the "window" in the cap to set the dwell while running like other GM points style distributors... so you have to shut it off after checking the dwell, take the cap and rotor off, and change the point gap. Then put it back together and check again.
    Good times!

  9. My oldest son and I put the transmission back in his Camaro today to figure out that the slave cylinder is likely the wrong one. The previous owner had installed a cheap single disk clutch in place of the original dual disk and it came apart. Anyway, we put a dual disk Lingerfelter clutch back in it but I was trying to skimp on spending money on the fairly new slave cylinder. Pretty sure it is longer than he one needed for the dual disk. :( Good news is that we should be quicker taking it out and putting it back in the second time…

My Mom had two Ramblers when I was very young, both a pinkish color, they didn’t run real well but they got us where we needed to go. It’s a rare sight to see one nowadays but I try to get a good look at them whenever I see one. Prayers for you on your knee, I hope it’s on the mend.

Put the transmission back in for the 3rd time. Got it pulled out, cleaning the inside. Putting the interior back together. Still 4 weeks out for the front wheels. IMG_0403.JPG IMG_0404.JPG IMG_0407.JPG

I mounted some rollers on the wire wheels and mocked up the Ruby with the 215.

New intake and a new carb to try out and all plumbed and ready for a test. I’ve tried a few different carbs and the bigger I go the faster it runs…..so an entry level 4500 series.

Wheels showed up early. Interior finished. Got it scheduled to be tuned and aligned next weekend. Get the mustang pulled in and start on the fuel injection after this is finished. IMG_0443.JPG IMG_8611.JPG

  22. More Ot crap. Fixing to learn how to rebuild a torque tube in this car owned by my youngest son. I sure like working on simple old stuff better…at least in my comfort zone. I think I am paying for getting my kids into cars.

Sometimes those prices are hard to pass up though.

  25. Understood. I have only replaced one clutch in a Harley and I think I put a Barnett in it? That was about 25 years ago and I remember there was no letting the clutch out easy anymore. It was basically in or out. I even tore it apart during Sturgis to see if I had put something together wrong.

Anyway, this is the other OT deal I am working on now as well. Started tearing my bike down yesterday to replace the tensioner on the timing chain. I’m at least hoping that is what is making the whining noise. My buddy that works on bikes regularly didn’t even have to think when I told him what it was doing and how many miles it has on it. Hoping to find out if he was right this week when I finish getting it apart.

D9C65EB1-BD88-4BFC-9BF0-8B19D576D5FE.jpeg Silly me , I had the OEM stuff on hand , wanted to try high performance clutch , totally junk . HP unit had 5 threaded studs , OEM 3 threaded studs design was great , manufacturing was total junk . Sheared off 3 of the 5 studs .

  27. I think I found the problem inside the torque tube… Seems someone either forgot to tighten one of the bolts or didn’t use Loctite. Whatever the case, they did replace the rubber couplers with aluminum. So, appears my kid is just out labor and not parts to fix this deal.

IMG_0492.JPG Got the mustang down to the shop. See how far I get with it this weekend. Could use a good cleaning, buff and polish. 62k original miles, bought it off original owner. IMG_0485.JPG IMG_0486.JPG IMG_0488.JPG IMG_0489.JPG IMG_0490.JPG IMG_0491.JPG
