I’m not 100 % sure , if factory but I looked under every Mopar truck I saw in salvage yards for 5 plus years lookin for NV 4500 . I saw 2 833s on in Trailduster one in Power Wagon . Most were either NP 435 or NP 445 . I had to purchase a complete plow truck to get all the needed parts for my NV 4500 swap . Can you help with with a Utiline bed question ? What year did the beds start with flat top sides ? I found a nice bed with angled top sides . Thanks , sorry Lloyd , to attack your posts . Your car is top shelf cool , let me know if you need any 55-57 parts . A neighbor of mine was just involved with reproducing the “ golden 55 “ . He has more parts stockpiled that, a GM dealership would of had on hand

  4. Somewhere in the mid ‘50’s, I think maybe for ‘55 but not 100%. My ‘57 is flat.

Man you know you're welcome around my stuff anytime. So far I've seen that I need the chrome piece on the front of the hood, and a hood ornament. The windshield garnish molding is gone. Other than that, it's all floor plans, rockers, and quarter panels. Gonna have to sell my kidney to get them quarter panels though! Lmao

man, don’t you dare put a hood ornament on it, weld up the holes and eliminate it. It was common on hot rods as well as customs

A friend's straight axle '55. He has a 454 in it and had to massage the firewall for PS valve cover clearance. I think the DS clears.

If I recall, you were considering replacing the sbc in the El Camino with a big block...seems like if you put a sbc in the '55 you'll wish you did a big block.

Well just read all 22 pages! glad the car finally got home. Just food for thought, I think the uni lugs are 4.5, 4.75 and 5 by 5 so they should fit because the Pontiac, Olds rear is 5 x5. Now more building and less bullshit. ;) Larry

Consider this on the windshield molding the 150s had just the rubber no chrome stainless moldings. There’s two different gaskets one for 210 and belair and one for 150. Saves a bunch of money and installation time and looks really good.

Both of these are 150s not a good shot of the windshield but you get the idea. Also a nice layout for the signage on the side panel don’t you think?

So back to naming the ‘55;).
Have you thought about incorporating “Ruckus”?
Something kinda boring like Ruckus II, or More Ruckus.
You’d have to maybe get creative with the panel paint, something I could never do!

Once you go big block you’ll never go back to small blocks again. Actually if you compare the cost of buy in between the 2 you don’t need any exotic parts for the bbc to go faster.

400 horsepower sbc with proper gearing will make it go just fine. A good starting point I would say.
