I'm about to book my trip to Las Vegas to attend my first SEMA show (been a member since 1983 and necer been to one.) Found a great package that includes staying at the Super 8 motel out by Nellis. Don't mind the ride given the great price. Anything I should know about that area? Side question, if I don't stay there, any nice clean, safe places on or just off the strip closer to the Convention Center? Thanks, Dennis
Your OK at that Super 8. Some of the areas nearby are a little dicey. That hotel is Tex Smith's favorite place to stay when he is in town. There is usually several cop cars there ... not because of problems, but because the restaurant is favored by Tex and the cops too. The annual RRT & HAMB BBQ is at the Speedway Thursday evening at my shop so it will be really close for you. I will post the info soon. Carl
Thanks Carl i was reading last years posts and was hoping that you'd be having your BBQ again. Dennis
Kroozn1, I will be staying out at Whiskey Pet'e's.. I couldn't pass on 18 bucks a night... I had rooms at the Aladdin but the wife had back surgery and can't go now.. I couldn't see spending 160 a night for a room I won't be in much... Is the BBQ open to all HAMB'ers...Elcornus and I would be intersted in coming and seeing your shop... EVILT
All HAMBers are invited. This started out as a HAMB & RRT BBQ years ago, but now it's kinda open. We even let Boyd come out for a hot dog once. Here is the invite post and directions that is back a few pages: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=136999
What's the deal for admission to SEMA? Do you have to be a business to gain entry? You can't just buy a ticket to get in?
You need to fax them copies of your bus. license, bus. card, photo ID, and etc... If you look at www.semashow.com and click on the register.. it lists everything you need.... EVILT Tickets are not sold to general public..... Kroozn1, thaks for the info... I will see ya there....EVILT
Be prepared to look at lots of NICE skin in the tire and wheel building! Every booth has at least one buitiful honey in it wanting her picture taken.
Kurt is right! And it should be the job of each and every one of the SEMA Show attending HAMBers to bring at least one of those pretty girls to the BBQ with them! P.S. Don't tell them it is at a body shop. Trust me on this. Carl
See what I can do.....I will tell them it is at a high end hot rod shop that builds cars for rockstars and famous people... Hot chicks love....stars...EVILT
Reckon they will be disappointed when they get here and see the place full of MoPar muscle cars in various stages of undress? Oh well, too late ... you will already have them in the boonies.
I will just tell them the stars show up pretty late in the day and the mopar cars are how all hot rods start....EVILT

I've been a SEMA member since it was the Speed Equipment Manufacturer's Association and I had to jump through all kinds of hoops to get credentials this year.
We can even give them a ride in a HEMI car on the way TO the bbq. (it's just a HEMI Magnum, but, it's still a HEMI )
