Thank you...I'm just assuming, never set foot close to this action other than Mags and the Hamb front row seat...was 5 in 65...as I'm thinking the terminology referred to as...purpose built & Looks possibly...then off with some fender of course...and fill it with slicks...

 

That was one of Noah's cars his uncle found and Noah sold.

 

My uncle's at this time about 1955 - it towed his roadster to Bonneville in 1950.....his schoolmate Dick Bertolucci worked it over over the years. It won the first Sacramento Autorama when Leroy Semas (who flat towed it to BVille) owned it.
Here at my pop's (grandpa) last shop....

 

There was someone on here quite awhile ago that did a beautiful, subtle chop on one of these years.....I never have been able to find it again.

 

If the car is fairly stock appearance running boards look good to me. But all my old coupes have been hotrods, and I just don't like the looks of running boards on a hotrod. Especially if it's not lowered.

No @David Gersic but thank you it wasn’t a sedan but a coupe with the quarter windows.

 

Well you know what they say about assuming brother. Was 18 yrs old in'65. In '66 ran a '66 Chevelle DD at the drag strip in KC MO. on run what you brung days. Had a lot of fun with my freinds and even won a few races. Just never had the $ to get seriously in to racing.

Oh and built this several yrs. ago.

 

Hamtown Al, with 'these' you mean '39 chevy hot rod convertible, or the original '39 master85 touring pheaton ?

With the latter i can help, there where 15 cars built for the swiss army,
one is still with me, i sold an other to a american collector, which was known from the aticle " the bomb shell " , one belongs to a swiss junkyard owner family and the last of the 4 worldwilde remaining cars, is now in a swiss Army museum.
I have seen all 4 cars and keep record and track of them.
Allthough, there was a handfull of '39 master 85 convertible converted by the Belgians europe. They are somewhat differnt, once you know what to look for. Thats mine as a start manny moons ago, when i was 21....

I knew they did not make any 39 chevy convertibles(I'm thinking like cabriolets) but I had no clue that any phaetons were built!! I can go to bed early tonight as I learned something new!
Thanks greatly for sharing such info and the pictures of cars, etc. are part of what makes us all tune in to the HAMB as often as possible. Usually something for everybody and a few gems and bits of history pretty often.

I had a 37 for many many years and miles , 2 friends had 37 and 38 , another friend had a 36 all coupes . My favorite is 35 master . On had better be a good carpenter along with a car builder to build a pre 37

I've posted it elsewhere but thought I should add my car to this thread. It's a '38 with a '37 nose..its been a hot rod since 1957. Interior has been in place since then too. Cad column was a later addition.

 

Its funny how a car seen nearly 50 years ago, can have a huge impact on what you think looks "just right" I was a teenager when I first saw this car - and I still reckon its the best looking 38 Chev I have ever seen. It had been an old "allcomers" circuit race car and was converted to a street legal hot rod in the mid 70s (when I first saw it). It then went thru a couple of owners and then went into storage for 20 odd years. In recent years, it went to Australia to live.

 

And a pikky from a couple of years ago before it headed to Oz to live.

 

Here is my 37, building as a 60s style hot rod/gasser tribute to my dads from 1969 in So Cal. Nasty SBC with mech inj intake converted to EFI, 6spd, Olds/Pont 9.3" rear end, going to be 4.56-4.88? Rebel Kidney beans, and real magnesium American 15"x10", 64 Chevelle buckets and column, old Sun tach, WAC chromoly tube axle to replace orig with drop, has old 60s traction bars and tow bar mounts
