Hot Rods The 4 Banger hot rod picture thread.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Hitchhiker, Nov 3, 2015.

  1. So I just acquired this little gem from my close friend Marky who gave me a great deal on it. It is going to go on my A Model A chassis/running gear project that is Hupmobile model R bodied that was a touring but I think I want to go with a mystery turtleneck (that need to get pictures of also so hopefully somebody can help me identify it too) I acquired it a a week or two ago at an estate sale. Thinking about it I'm going to have to call this car the estate sale build, almost all the parts of came from estate sales lol

So I am posting hoping somebody could give me a little bit of information about this intake manifold I can't find anything online now that being said I didn't look at 6,000 pages online either but I did look at quite a few posts and model A type stores.
Anyways it's a downdraft intake the only thing it says is "hot rod" I plan on using it as I think it will compliment the former leather belt driver model A engine I got from another estate sale that was here in what's left of the orange groves in Riverside Ca. So far I've acquired a Schneider mystery grind camshaft that I am pretty sure is brand new (I am a rebel I'm not going to figure out what kind it is that would ruin the mystery) a lightened flywheel that I have no idea how to tell if it has been drilled for a "modern" 8ba type clutch, I managed to horse trade for a Model B distributor from a good guy that is also local here to me... now to find is a cylinder head in the 6;1 to 7;1 range although I got to find one used because why break the cheapest build trend but that is another story and I will cross this bridge shortly too.
Anyways I was hoping somebody could give me a little information on this intake manifold or point me in the right direction as I said above also would a holley 94 be about the right size for a mildly built A engine and also has anyone used one of these brand new holley 94 style carburetors that you can buy for $130ish bucks on Amazon or eBay that are brand new?
I have had pretty bad experience with wore out carburetors at this point and I am hoping to find a new one that I don't have to spend 9,000 hour building or rebushing.

Here’s my 29 banger roadster. Not perfect but a fun car to knock around town in.

I underestimated the work when l was installing the sliding ragtop.
For me the most difficult work was the replacing of the top following bending the rain gutter and straightening the steel sheets that I had welded in.The result of the work isn’t perfect but for me it’s okay.During this work I often regretted having started this work at all but now when I drive around with the open top I would not want to miss it under any circumstances.

I recently put one of those sliding ragtops in a model a and it wasn't too hard. I can get more photos when I get to work. 20240726_074045.jpg 20240723_161357.jpg

There are a lot of cool bangers other than Ford. But not many that get attention here. You have to search for them. It is a supply issue I believe.
