Chairs must be HAMB friendly, pre 65, no seat heaters, head restraints or cup holders.

Guess that rules out my 6-way power milking stool.

  7. We wont have a H.A.M.B. car there but we will have a red 2006 Mustang out there. It has been 262.144 already and shooting for more. Stop in for a cold drink. We park in the middle about half way down.

Looking forward to watching the speed trials and enjoying beers on the flats!

  9. Last time we were there, we found that most people offered up some respite from the sun under their canopies, etc. Don't overstay the welcome though.

I've been going since 1984. I have learned from being stupid years ago to ALWAYS have a large beach type umbrella or a large canopy at least 10x10. Bring lots to drink and don't forget eye protection, a hat, suntan lotion (the higher highest protection level you can get and be prepared for the wind to suddenly come up and try to blow your canopy to Nebraska. An FM radio and a CB will keep you informed about what's going on. If you are wearing shorts apply suntan lotion as far up as you can. The sun reflecting off the salt can burn you in places you never thought possible. Bonneville can be exciting one moment and the next one you are wondering what will happen. Wind holds can come up if the wind exceeds 17 mph. My dear late friend Bill Taylor was the starter on the short course and keeper of the wind gauge. I remember sitting with him one year during a wind delay and watching this guy walking at a 45° angle holding his hat so it wouldn't blow off coming up and asking Bill if the wind hold was still on. We both looked at him and laughed and he got the clue!

Anyone have up to date info on the livestream for this year?

    Found this from Gearhead Hobbies:

Put on the strongest sunscreen you can find - BEFORE you get dressed. The sun reflects off the salt to hit places normally in the shade like under your chin and nose, and your nuts. Get a big *** hat and wear it. Take at least 2 gallons of fluid per day to drink. Take a chair. Wipe your shoes off before you get back in your vehicle. Keep a good at***ude handy and a camera. Follow ALL the rules, especially about following the orange cones. Ask the old salt dogs about do's and don'ts at the end of the road just before you drop off onto the salt. Don't litter, don't pour any fluids on the salt. Have a good time, because you just left the real world and entered another known as North American Zoomland. While you are there, nothing else will matter except racing. Volunteers are welcome, just ask first. You never know, you might be turning wrenches or sweeping out a trailer. Did I mention having a good time? You will remember it forever.

All o the above. About the shorts thing, put the sun screen clear up to and on your privates, I learned the hard way. You can't take to much water. I never had a canopy but I did have one of the big brim strawberry picker straw hats and I had found some white long sleeve T shirts which also worked great. Enjoy your self there's nothing like it anywhere else.

I tape trash bags over the carpet, or floor mats in whatever car I'm taking. Even if the salt is really hard, it will find a way to follow you in.

And remember beer is a food not a liquid as far as hydrating in the heat is concerned. Learned that as a Park Service Ranger on Lake Mojave. Dealt with many heat related emergencies where the person figured they were plenty hydrated since they had consumed a case of beer but no other liquids.

With expenses for 2 rooms for a week, gas, food, t-shirts, and the entry ……. It’s Bonneville and “busted” nowadays…
.Not complaining however as in 1975 when I started I saved all year to race and now I do it on 2 months of SS checks…..glad I worked until I was 69 and was in a stock savings plan at work starting in 1969.
