Likely to find plenty of pics on their website, We installed a CE unit on a '52 Chev sedan delivery where I used to work. Quality pieces , well built.

I had one on my 54 Chevy, and it worked out great. Talk to George at Heidt's. They now own Ch***is Engineering.

I like the bolt in myself, worked great on my 48 Chevy; with the CE, you can adjust your ride height. Some of the weld in ones are too low and then it's too late.

Their bolt on system works best for early Chev
"Top hat" frames which are better not being welded.

So, is Heidt's still producing CE kits, or are they just sending their own stuff out and have eliminated the CE stuff?
Years ago, Heidt's was using pretty thin material for their kits.

I haven't been keeping up with the kits for the last several years, but I remember hearing CE closed and couldn't remember who bought them up.

Yes Heidts owns CE now . They use 3/16 metal every where .

I got one on my 51 ford f1 and love it. I was lucky to get an actual CE kit from Yogi's just before CE sold to Heidts so I don't know what the current kit is like. It bolted on perfectly and didn't require any mods that I remember. The ride is excellent and I haven't had a problem in 4 years.

I have used two CE front ends for years. One is in a 40 coupe. The other in a 51 pickup. Read the instructions and FOLLOW them! I chose to keep the struts rather than go with the no strut application as I figured ford knew what they were doing. Alignment shop found everything dead on. I have them down low and handling is super. Both got the sway bars front and back. Top quality and workmanship on the parts. I have 12 and 10 years of use so far with no complaints.

Not a bolt on, but a weld in on the front. No power steering needed. Rides firm, very tight turning radius, handles flawlessly on the highway @ any speed. Parallel parking is a breeze.
A bolt on was used on the rear, but I welded it in due to the previous butcher job on the frame. It too, works extremely well.

So how long ago did you buy your kits? Was it before Heidt's bought them, or after? I have not heard anything about the CE kits since Heidt's bought them.

  21. I am pondering this on my 40
I really don’t like the disc brake kit that’s on it as it pushes the wheels out out 1/2”-3/4”
While the car rides straight and smooth at the same time it’s very unresponsive while steering .

I can have a complete kit hub to hub with everything shipped to me for not to bad money.

Question is. What todo with the steering column?

If your willing to change the front suspension to modern stuff, why would changing the steering column to modern stuff be a problem? If the modern looking steering wheel and the modern looking steering column are the issue, you can get a modern steering wheel that looks old, to mount on a modern column that looks old, and your all set. It only costs money. ;):D

I've shortened and modified original steering columns to work with other front ends. Do some searches. There are quite a few on here. My Buick and Plymouth builds have examples.

  24. Old columns look better

    period

that modern suspension is hidden under sheet metal. New columns and wheels are in your face

I’ll do 10 times the work on an old one over a newer one

Many great looking cars turn me off when I look inside and see a fat GM tilt colum and equally out of place wheel.

Here are some things that helped me decide on buying a TCI independent from Pete & Jakes at the 2023 SRN.

    1. It was either the same price or a little cheaper than Heidts. Not the main reason though.
    2. It came with a swaybar incorporated. Heidt's was a $300 ($350?) option.
    3. It has eccentics built in that allow easy alignment. Heidts required loosening and inserting shims.
    4. Shipping was $100 from PJs..........$350 from Heidts.
    5. Seems like there was also something else that I liked better, maybe just the overall look of the unit, but memory fails me here.

I don't know what the other brands have to offer comparatively, but I did look at them at the time and the TCI seemed to be a better choice for my 32 for varying reasons. I think having adjustable eccentrics for alignment is a much better feature and the standard swaybar vs optional is desirable as well. Look beyond initial cost when you decide what you want, although my TCI was actually less expensive.
