We had a terrific time and a big thanks to the Chrome Czar's and all the volunteers. See ya at the 07 Pile Up!
This was not my first Pileup, and it will not be my last. I have had a great time the past 3 times it was held and I will continue to love it. Good times, Good people, Good music, and Cool Cars! What more can you ask for? Now we didnt get in. Me and my old man knew we where not going to get in this year, But we came anyway becuase every year its a great show with a great atmosphere.
I just wish it was a month earlier so it wouldn't be so damn cold every yr. I had a blast there anyway! Great show every yr. guys.
I know one trailer was mine and another one was Triumph Terror's. We are gunuinely sorry that we brought our cars and had them in the project area because they did not run yet. I will try to do better and be more considerate to your feelings next year. TT really should have left his at home because everyone is gonna see it anyway since it is on the shirt and all. Ha Ha Ha
I was born a poor white child in a trailer park so its only fitting that my Beverly Hillbilly lookin truck gets to have its own trailer . Sorry bout the electric water pump on my truck as well/Probl wont make the cut next year cuse of it..... Great show as always saw alot of old friends made alot of new ones as well. I cant believe somebody let that 1958 Elcamino in man that was a fatory add on or somethin.... Great hangin with ya Choprods.. Love Shoe XOXOXOXOX
Had a great time,Shoe! Hope that things running next year so we won't have to push it across the venue again.
I turned away more cars this year than in the past for sure. Most were fine with it. If you stood at the South gate at 8 in the morning and looked out at 4 lanes of cars reaching all the way to the road... you'd understand why some things slipped by.
You're welcome!! Got recruited 4 days prior and had a good time parking cars. Next year though I want the whole fairgrounds carpeted with good padding. My knees were killing me - and the dust!!! Good times though.
I though it was the best show I went to all year.It was my first pile up and I will be back next year with my 31 AV8,done or not.
My congradulations to the Chrome Czars and all of the volunteers who made sure we all had a great time at one of the best events held in the midwest. You all did a great job!! I'd say for those who want to bitch about cars being in the show that don't belong, why don't you volunteer next year and work the gates to help police the cars that you don't feel are worthy?
This one? That's my friends' Matt and Dawn's from Chicago. Believe it or not, but a month ago that car was turquoise with pink flames... and a lot of rust, bondo, and bondo over cardboard. Matt and Gary C fixed it all and Gary C primed it 2 days before the show. Matt and I personally broke a windshield half reinstalling it... and Gary C broke the other half the next day. I think the Pileup is infamous for last minute thrashing! As for trailers... I turned away a car that arrived on a trailer. He left and came back driving it... and one fo teh Suedes turned him away! I saw a few other cars arrive on trailers and I asked them what they were doing. Everyone I asked said they were parking the car AND trailer so they could sell it OUTSIDE the gates. Maybe some snuck off and drove in, but when you're watching 1000s of cars (show and spectator), it's easy to lose track. A lot of the trailers outside belonged to swap meet guys, too. I turned away the billet steering wheel guy, too. He must've gone to the other line and put his coat over the wheel. People are dishonest everywhere, but for the most part, the Pileup crowd is VERY cool and even clean up after themselves! I had a talk with the cops on Saturday night and they said they thought the show was awesome and were having very few problems I'm glad everyone had a good time... we sure as hell did!!
Thanks guys for all the kind words. Big shows are a bitch to put on.. heck there are only 6.. well 7 of us now organizing and driving the show.. tons of volunteers.. thats what makes it happen. Do a few cars that dont fit the criteria get in.. yup.. it happens.. Is it because of money? nope.. the fact that you suggest that pretty much proves you have no idea what the pileup and traditional hot rodding is all about. You see, that same kind of attitude is prevalent at street rod shows, where guys showboat and complain and bitch and fight over trophies and stupid shit.. The spirit of the pileup is what makes it a good show, if you didnt feel it while you were there.. Then i guess you probably wont ever feel it.
there were guys that we would turn away, and then they would come back with a sticker, and wed pull that AGAIN. some guys are trying to be sneaky. that guy with the minibike chopper thingy takes the cake though. He had to argue with Kevin, just to be told No, like a 4th time..
I felt it while standing next to the gentlemen in the red fancy pants Thanks for the good time Mike had a blast as always now let me know when ya need me to pick up all that old motorcycle stuff ya got laying around. Shoe
I missed it.....but some whiners made it.....that's not fair. Next year I'll have my fiberglass vw on a minitruck chassis ready!!!!....or maybe my coupe.
look at at this band of good lookin kats!!!!! thanks a ton to you guys...im so glad to have been a part of it!!!and mike , your dad ron is so friggin cool!!!!i really wanna buy one of his carved pencils!!wow!!!!if i dont sponsor/volunteer/ and have a great time next year too, well, that means ive died and couldnt make it!!!! hurry up oct 07!!!!

.... Plowboyd! Ha ha ha! Thanks for that thoughtful reach-around Aaron, will return the favor when you're least expecting it!
There was no way in Hell I was going to let DW stick me with gate duty. I couldn't handle that kind of responsibility. I just wish I had 2 red flags so I could play aircraft carrier LSO with the cars. Navy guys will get that reference.
Amen to that! Next year it's Redwing boots for me for sure. How I got no blisters I do not know. Oh that's right, my feet swelled and filled the boots.
I think that folks listened to us about as well as fighter pilots do listen to LSO's durring carrier landing training. "I know what I'm doing!" "Then why are you tearing the hell outta your WWW's cause you didn't radius your front fender properly?" Good times.
Man, am I glad I was out front clearing the way for GOOD cars to get spots. Those guys look dangerous.
I dont understand why guys with billet or whatever want to try to sneak in, or why do they want to be part of something where they are obviuosly not wanted? I can only imangine a show that size must be so hard to regulate..
