My wife and I are planning on taking a road trip next year with our '32 Ford. What is the best traditional hot rod show to attend? I am sure many have different ideas about what is best. From what I have read I am leaning towards the ROC. Opinions are welcome!
Not necessarily all traditional...but one of the best '32 shows is Deuce Days in Victoria BC. Obviously this would be a long haul from MD.
I would like to stay east of the Mississippi. Going south to Oklahoma is fine. Traditional hot rods are a requirement.
sounds like fun times ahead. you must have seen plenty of coverage of events here that meet your requirements.
I'm of the notion that there are a hundred definitions of what a traditional rod run is. When my wife and I went to a Billetproof event the first time she remarked that "boy this is just like the old days" the old days being in 1973/77 when we hit a ton of rod trots in Texas. Bucket lost rod trot for a guy with a 32 Ford Deuce days next August in Victoria BC would be high on the list. I'm signed up and intend to take the 48 and be one of the guys parked out in the cheap seats on Sunday. That will be our trip for our 56th anniversary. The other bucket list one that is more traditional is the Lone Star roundup in Austin. That is good for a trip to my wife's home stomping grounds in McGregor. Still to me quite often the best traditional rod runs are the smaller ones with cut off years and restrictions on wheels and billet. Events where you can actually visit with just about everyone there and fun with cars outdoes big numbers or a big spectator gate.
The Relix Riot at the Gilmore Museum in Hickory Corners, Michigan. The museum is amazing, beautiful grounds, and a great car show. It is in mid-August, on the 17th this year.
Frog Follies in Evansville, IN. Over 2,000 pre-1948 cars and a great swap meet. Usually the 3rd weekend in Aug.
