bitchin.... that 350 will go great in there, similar to what is in my corvette except mine has a solid cam and factory over the counter angle plug heads... that wagon should scream with it....

Good fortune for big daddy! 20240725_142549.jpg
Here's a Pic of a 55 with some '70s paint work. Although it is actually a sedan delivery. I've heard stories from guys who "converted" wagons to SDs for racing.

What’s the reason to convert? Eliminate windows?

My understanding was the sedan delivery was considered a truck. Some of the Chevrolet trucks of that era used a Hydro transmission. So in the Junior Stock class rules you could use the Hydro transmission. Back in the days of JS racing any advantage was a leg up on the competition.

Lloyds car is not a real sedan delivery, the previous owner added the metal panels where the side windows used to be. the tail gate is different on a wagon than it is on a delivery

Good fortune came your way. I’m sure you earned it as well.
    Buy the Chief something special!

  11. As much as I was rooting for the big block a Corvette engine is definitely era correct for a gasser. So it's definitely right lol

Nothing is sacred lmao! But with the work I'm putting into the car, I'll more than likely hang on to this one. I'm growing fond of it. The guy that bought my El Camino has already asked how much boot between the elco and the wagon lol

  16. An old club member has a 70 Lt-1 350 and has put it in 3 different cars now.
I say keep it for 2 reasons, one is it's a great motor and two is because a guy you respect gave it to you to help you out.

I have the same thing, 57 two door station wagon with the side panels welded on. The rear one-piece hatch from a real sedan delivery will fit but the two supports that hold the hatch up are different, they are longer. I use the one that came with the regular station wagon top hatch but they are shorter, still work. The problem is when the hatch is open the hatch itself is right at eye level, so you have to be careful or you will poke your eye out, like the kid with the Red Ranger BB gun.

My dad was a 35 year career fireman, after wwII service. This fireman brotherhood hits very familiar. It's ok to have good things happen to us once in a while.

  20. Oh did I mention the four bolt main 350 in my 53 has fire department sources? Lol. Though of course it's nowhere near lt1 specs..... pretty sure my dads minivan makes more power. But was a fire department truck for several decades before truck was junked at 80k miles. So while a slug it's cherry and a good base to go off of lol

@Lloyd's paint & glass can I get a straight shot of the front of the engine so I can see those pulley’s better? Thanks

To all other’s. Are those Vette only pulley’s and what years as well?

Asking because I’ve been wanting to turn the water pump faster on the red 56.

    Right on!
It could use a double pumper with that 4 speed. Great that the chief thinks so much of you.

His vette is a 72, I did tell him I'll switch the oil pan and give it back because it's a vette piece. The rest is what came out of the vette. And what I thought was a 750 is actually a 600 carb. And I swore be put a lunati cam in it, but I was wrong about that also, it's a Howard's, here's the cam card. I'm home getting ready to go play music tonight, but I'll take a picture tmrw. 20240803_144623.jpg
