I do appreciate the HAMB and have love for the traditional cars on here. Like some, I lack the skills to build a killer traditional car. So I ended up building a fringe vehicle. My truck sort of fits the rules, other than not being a traditional hot rod. Exterior is fairly original and I have a pretty basic interior that fits the overall build style, except for my shifter (black B&M magnum grip pro-stick). So I generally never post interior pics ... until now? I ended up with a mid to late 60's vibe vs an earlier pre 65 style. BBC, automatic trans, traction bars, radial tires, disk brakes and Torq thrust D's push me visually out of the pre 65 category, along with the fact that there are a bunch of post 65 parts on the truck. It does have a slightly more traditional look with steelie's and dog dish caps The current set up consists of: Original front axle with parallel springs, Camaro disk brakes, rear parallel springs and a built 10 bolt housing 3.73 rear gears with a limited slip. TH400 with a 2800 rpm convertor. Thirty over 396, Aluminum performer heads, RPM air gap intake and an Edelbrock 800 cfm AVS2 .
Getting the truck ready for an 8 day 1600km trip. Cleaned it up a bit and went back to solids with caps. Even threw on some tire shine.
Back home and other than a minor inconvenience with the fuel pressure regulator… truck ran great. Did have some “comfort” issues arise that will need to be dealt with but it was an awesome trip with some great people.
Man, I just want to drive around the country picking antiques to restore and haul them back home in this beauty, but it's too pretty to get dirty.
Hey, Front shocks are the original single action lever units and the rears are some cheapie Gabriel 81147's. Tires are 205/75R15 front and 255/70R15 rears. Cheers
Great looking truck and the big block makes it tough as nails. I would keep the torq thrusts on it full time.
That’s a great looking truck, I don’t care what “period” you’re after. Looks like a well laid out tour. Took some looking, but it appears you were near Kamloops somewhere along the route. Beautiful country up there. I’ve been on the ferry to the island going to Port Hardy, and skiing at Sun Peaks. Never in the hot rod though. Thanks for the pictures.
Decided to spruce up the interior with a new headliner. By no means an interior guy but a using the original cardboard as a template, some foam, glue and the cheapest fabric I could find... turned out ok.
