    Hello all,
Does anyone have experience replacing the vent window seals on a '46 Ford? Does the seal go on first or the vent window? I remember chipping the old seal out because it was so sun baked and brittle. I do remember that the top hinge gets screwed on first. to add to my dilemma some teeth are broken on the window gear.
    Thanks, Mike Jackson

The seal goes onto the garnish molding first then the vent window goes on second

    Yes.
The rubber has only a slot for the rubber to go through. The hinge needs to be installed first

Jim, I can't put top the hinge in without putting the bottom through the slot first...I think I'm missing something here?

    YES!!!
Both get the upholstery tucked underneath the rubber.
The windshield is not as important because the garnish molding helps cover it but most upholstery guys want it captured under the rubber.
The rear window is for sure as that tucking helps keep the tension on the upholstery

Great work. It’s an adventure for sure

You should probably check with your upholsterer to confirm what he wants and expects
