I would like to install a 1/4 inch fuel outlet fitting in the lower right hand corner of my TANKS polypropylene gas tank so as to make it operate on gravity feed like the original 1940 Ford tank. The wall thickness of tank is 1/8 in. It would be very difficult to reach a nut that tightens the fitting from the inside of the tank. What type of fitting can I use?
Any ideas on what type of fuel outlet fitting I can use is very much appreciated.
Tank is pictured below. The little piece of blue tape shows where I want the fitting on the outside rear of the tank up about an inch from the bottom of tank. Exhaust pipe is to the right of the tank. Thank you. Jim

If you could find a matching materials fitting then have someone plastic weld it in.

Got to play with plastic welding years ago, pretty cool. I did average but there was a girl there that could weld plastic milk jugs and she did a kick **** job at it too...

I just posted a possible on the other forum . Heres a picture of what I used . Fuel cell companies have a larger similar set up . This worked for me though. IMG_6053.jpeg

I have a few br*** bungs for this purpose , diesel fuel return lines for my use . Only issue is you have to be able to reach the hole inside the tank to install the bung

An aluminum tank may be the answer with an AN bung welded in. Lippy

I bet if you wanted to install one of those threaded bungs in an area that is hard to reach, you could.
    1. drill the hole
    2. get a piece of stiff wire (like a coat hanger) long enough to reach from the drilled hole to an access point like the filler tube.
    3. stick the wire from the drilled hole until it sticks out the tanks other opening.
    4. slide the bung (with gasket installed) onto the wire and bend a small 90 on the end of the wire so it won't pull thru
    5. pull the wire thru the drilled hole until the bung sticks thru and install the nut.
    6. either push the wire back thru or pull hard until it straightens and comes out...

Bulkhead fitting with appropriate sealing washer on the inside.

All the fitting makers should carry a version.

Doesn't an original Ford tank have a pick-up tube as part of the tank fitting? Seem to remember one in my tank that extends in and closer to the bottom.

THANK YOU all very much for responding to my post and providing excellent information about
how I could solve my problem including the threaded bung and how to install it and tighten it down in posts #7 and 8. That seems like the best idea. Today I'll crawl under the cart and investigate further.
I really appreciate your help. Jim ( 19Fordy)
