    @Baron
    I would like to hear more about your friends Willys Coupe. What does he know about the history of the car and what are his plans for the build? Motor, transmission, build style and anything else that is interesting about it. The first picture is a real time warp, very cool.

    Hello,

    K.S. Pittman-John Edwards had their fast Willys Coupe at Lion’s Dragstrip by the time we arrived to start our journey. It was our first encounter with a Willys Coupe. A normal hot rod built for the street class and included whitewall tires to boot.

    The Pittman-Edwards 41 Willys Coupe in the Lion's Dragstrip Pits. John Edwards was the other half of the winning Willys Coupe build.

    From the first time we saw his red Willys Coupe in the pits, it was all we could do to admire the build and the results every time we were trying to do our thing in the A/Stock class.

    The first encounter allowed us to see how fast the top racers were going, what they were using for power and how their set up was built. We were totally impressed as we looked at the red Willys Coupe going through its changes to set the Standard 1320 records during this time period. Perhaps, it was an inclination of our future to come in our own build… YRMV

    Another day, another run, this time with Bruce Slicks... yet, a red flash goes by quickly upon returning towards the orange timing tower...

    Went to buy some Buick junk and these pics were on his garage wall He built the car in South Omaha back in the 60’s. He doesn’t know where it is today, mom said it was a waste of time and money. Haha.

    @tdog, just unearthed a 40 Willys Coupe in Omaha. Do you know anything about this one?

    The guy that I dealt with knew of the Willys Coupe you are referring to. I asked if he knew about it and he immediately said “the pink one?” This car was built a couple blocks from where the “Omaha Coupe” was built.

    Wow, that is super cool that they were both built in Omaha so close together. Maybe he has some idea of where the other coupe went.

    Here’s an action shot of the new-build Pittman & Sword Motorsports Willys A/Gasser running in the Southeast Gassers Association Dixie Nationals race at Union Dragway, Union South Carolina on June 22, 2024.

  20. Wow ... if the chair he was in for 35 years was a LazyBoy, he needs to contact the company directly ... this has the makings of a great commercial :D

    Did they all sit this high as standard? Cropped from a photo (by 'Ivan') of George Street, Sydney, Nov. 1957; ACP/CP; Mitchell Library/State Library of New South Wales SLNSW_FL18886747.jpg

    This car was found in a Wash. State junkyard way back and bought for $40.00.
