The Chrome Violet, thanks for posting everything you are doing to that beautiful 1932 Ford you are building. I have always wanted a Deuce but I had to settle for what I have now, a 1936 Ford Cabriolet. I have had a few 35s and 36s but I always loved. The 32. Thanks Ron
As I said before, great build. As I watch you chrome and polish I'm thinking your not a kid anymore. Are you going to be able to crawl around and under this car to clean all the shiny? I'm knocking on the door of 80. I know for me that's why I'm powder painting more and shining less. Can't wait to see it at the ROC.
Pretty sure it is just doctoring up the lower fronts to correct everything from rolling the fenders forward, but just purely speculation as I am silently following many of these subtleties.
Picked up some of my gauges today. Williamson's Instruments repaired the capillaries on 2 SW big logo temp gauges and converted a big logo fuel gauge to 12v. A couple more parts marked off the list.
Do they have fresh rings or did they reuse your old ones? I need to find a new place that restores old SW’s cause my previous place closed down.
With the rear fenders rolled forward, the frame horn covers no longer fit. Josh and I came up with a plan to modify them, but keep them looking stock. Here's what we came up with...
Alot of Detail here, I Originally thought the title 4K steel body it was going to be a car built for like 20 K ,,, All the money you saved on body,, 4K, The other 20 k is tied up / spent in Crome & parts ,detail, 40-60 k when done ,,,$$ spent in pass collecting part to Present, with No labor cost ,,, Im not looking at my 32, looking at the pic above, I wonder why Ford never follow the same body line shape with the frame horn covers
We retained the lower front part of the fender where it bolts to the frame and running board, and cut and spliced above that. It took some of @carrillocustoms metal working magic to piece it back together.
Neat fix on the rear fenders, getting the rear of them up off the ground a little bit sure cleans up the rear view. I think it will be something like “oh that 5 window”, gonna be bitchen.
My dad was known to some as "Low-buck Chuck", so I was raised building projects from nothing. That's probably why I was attracted to this body in the first place. This project started off to be a low buck hot rod, as I didn't think the body would ever be good enough for anything other than primer. As it has progressed and I started to see the body had potential to become something nicer, the vision changed over time and then kind of snowballed into where it is headed now. I am still building it as low budget as I can, while at the same time trying to build out somewhat of a "lifetime" dream build. Yes, it has gone over budget, but I am still scouring swapmeets for parts and trading labor to make this happen. I have seen frame horn covers smoothed out and made to fit the body, but they look too "street roddy" to me. I really wanted to keep these looking factory, just tweaked to fit the forward swept fender. Something that could have been done on a 50's hotrod/show car.

I saved a nice filled shell off of another 32 project. I could tell it was done nicely, but couldn't believe that it was metal finished with no lead or filler. Definitely done by a master craftsman back in the 50's!
