Anyone planning to attend this year? I couldn’t find another thread on it, looks like rain early in the week, hopefully clears out before the show.

Of course, it has rained there before.

If the planets align this week, I’m going to give it a try. Both vehicles are ready. I ‘ll be in one or the other. I usually park out in the gr*** between the Expo building and the Swapmeet area. Safe travels everyone.

Anyone attend today, if so, how was the turnout? A lot of rain in KY this week but the weekend is looking better.

Great show and turnout, nice weather Saturday. Posted some nice MoPars and Corvettes on a few threads. I have a bunch of Summit Discount codes if anyone has a project they are working on. Expire on 8/31/24.

That T-Bucket was amazing, I took a bunch of pics of it that I need to download from my camera. Beautiful build.

I heard a rumor that due to the fact that they let in a lot of newer stuff for the 30 year rule they have changed the name to the Hot Rod Nationals. Seen some videos with that name, any body know?

Well, still calling it the Street Rod Nationals is pretty much of a stretch. Maybe the could call it the Collector Car & Newer Nationals!

Your pictures turned out nice, you really need to see that car in person to capture all the detail. I'll post what I took soon.

They do but really the percentage of street rods has declined. Now, you see more pony cars, muscle cars, pickups, etc. That's just the way it is. I still enjoy going. You are correct about the scooter. We walked 2 days and rode on Saturday so that we could cruise it all.

Great show, I love the mix since my first p***ion is MoPar Muscle cars, then Corvettes but also love traditional hot rods and customs. Great mix and a good way to bring new blood into the hobby. I walked 7.6 miles Saturday checking out the show and loved every minute of it. Kind of reminds me of a larger version of the great cruise-ins we attended in the 70s and 80s when I was growing up, fun times.

  20. I doubt if they would change the name to that. Hot Rod Magazine used to have the Hot Rod Nationals. I attended a few of them. They or Motor Trend, probably still hold the rights to that name.

Edit: I just checked, looks like my memory was a little off. The ones, in the 1980's I went to, Hot Rod Magazine called them the Hot Rod Super Nationals.

I was there for the week and was happy I could still make it. Yea there are cars that don't knock my socks off but that's true at any show. I just cruise on by the ones that I don't care for and spend time at the ones that do. Talking with folks that have the same tastes as you do is always enjoyable and making friendships is a plus. I will keep going as long as I can no matter what they call it. I know too many who can't make it any more for what ever reason and it's sad. Just my 2 cents. Now getting ready to head back that direction for the Tri 5 Nats.

  22. I can remember if one tried to get in any of the "NATS" with a '49 and newer they kicked you out.

Times change, we all get older. At one time we would start planing our trip to the Nationals in April. We had 10-12 cars in a caravan to Oklahoma City, Syracuse and Louisville. Every motel we stopped into on the way to or from, was a mini car show. we would get about 8 pizzas and a case of beer and soft drinks and hang out in the motel parking lot and had just as much fun going or coming, even some of the motel guests joined in. This year not one person from the area went. It is what it is and you can't go back.

I live about two hours away and had attended for years but, like woodie, finally gave it up this year. Combination of reasons: the 30 year rule resulting all non-streetrod, hotrod cars; the decline in actual parts available at the venders(I can order them from my kitchen); age (83); hardly, if any, if the guys I looked forward to seeing going anymore and so on. As woodie implied, life changes and you can't stop that.

I was there. Wet year, Wed, Thurs were hot humid and some pretty severe storms. Fri after morning rain and Sat were nicer days. Seemed attendance was down a bit, never heard the final registration tally after 87** on Fri afternoon. No pictures from me, I didn't take any. Bought some stuff at a few vendors and swap meet. Vendors seem to be really catering to the later model stuff, and less to pre-49. Guess that's where the money is. Overall had fun hanging out with my friends. Past years the ratio of pre-49 to 49 and later was about equal; seems this year there were more 49 and later. Especially later model trucks like 80s-90s.

I was there. I couldn't tell if it was a car show, or an electric scooter show. Seriously though, times do change and I understand that. I took my 11 year old grandson for his first time, and he was blown away with the sheer number of vehicles all on one property. We had a blast, and he's already planning next year's trip.

  30. I expect the proliferation of scooters can be daunting. I hate to say it, but if I go to another big one, a scooter is probably in the wings. Getting old can ****, alternative more so.
