Technical Help ID this Ross box

    Hey everybody,
    I need help founding out what this Ross box was out of so I can find one for the restoration project. Attached is photos from a 1964 photo shoot of my car.
    Any suggestion is greatly appreciated !

  2. I looked in my first edition motors manual, under steering gear, Ross, and found a photo of what looks like the same style box. It is listed as a Ross [4]. they were used in 1935-36 8 cylinder Auburns, 1935 Graham models 72 73,
    1935-36 Studebaker Commander & Dictator, and 35-38 Pierce Arrows.
    This is a rough idea and may get you closer to finding the exact one

    Imposible to say without more detail. That style Ross box was used in a dozen different '30s cars and trucks all the way up to '70s forklifts.

    Does the long sector shaft indicate a non-auto source? Maybe one of those forklifts? Where’s the nearest forklift junkyard?

    A lot of dragsters and altereds used Ross steering boxes. Did they have a race program? I have Economy garden tractors that use a Ross box that looks like those a lot of dragster used in the late 60's

    Those Ross boxes were most likely from a Crosley, smaller than in the OP's pic.

    That’s what I was told before but they look nothing alike.
