I don’t know of frame numbers, but driver side in front of the door should be a riveted tag with the serial number. (No VIN in ‘59)

I had it there in my ‘59, same location as in my ‘57. I’ll get a pic when I get home from work in the AM.

I had a chopped 55 that had been subframed as well, so a couple VIN’s gone. The only way I could prove it matched the ***le was the VIN I found on top of the frame rail under the cab on the driver’s side I believe. I was able to use a mirror to see it with the cab on.

Edit: Budget36 is probably right on SN vs. VIN. I just remember it had a number on top of the frame under the cab.

IMG_2908.jpeg My 57 has a stainless tag spot welded to the left side as pictured. Also on top of frame be steering box as pictured. Seems I have read about other places on frame but can’t confirm. IMG_0286.jpeg

I forgot to take a pic of my serial number plate, but now I’ll pop the hood later today and see if I have that on my ‘57 as well.
I never had a need to look before, my dad bought the truck new.

I just popped the hood on my ‘57, I saw no numbers on a tag or stamped anywhere in front of the steering box. It is possible the inner fender panel could be covering something up, but didn’t feel anything by hand either.
Maybe different ***embly plants added their own touch? Unsure. I’m not a historian on anything, well, I try about pre 70’s baseball;)

I'm thinking you may have hit that spot on as far as Chevy trucks between 55 and 59 are concerned. It may have been the policy in one or two plants to stamp the number on the frame rail on the line after the cab tag went on. The engine, trans and body numbers will never match on one of these trucks, They will just tell you Yup, this engine was made for a 195_ truck model # ____ and where they were made and so was the cab and ch***is and the transmission That is as matching as you get.

Again, no idea, but does line up with what you posted above with location.
Never looked on the frame for any of the TF trucks I bought for parts and sold the rest (the good days).
Even traded a guy a bare frame for something, he had a long bed, wanted a short bed truck. Never even looked then!

the number that is stamped on the top of the frame, near the steering box, is repeated a couple feet back, under the driver seat, on top of the frame rail.
