Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Jet Doc, Oct 15, 2006.

  1. Thanks to everyone! Mama needs a whiskey! Thanks to Wanna B for being my personal escort on Friday night - Thanks to Stromberg97 for being the best Wingman a gal could ask for. Thanks to 35pickup for lending me an ear... thanks to the Suedes for kicking ass once again. Thanks to all of the volunteers who helped make the show a success. Thanks to polasfv3 for the awesome cake and HRLC Denise for the cookies, and really, just for being HER. thanks to Peterpan for the awesome signage and the whole bunch of folks who helped hang them on Sat AM after all the wind on Friday.

And thanks to the Chrome Czars for being the best fellas a gal could ever have.

The billet guys were pretty polite. A lot of shows say no billet, but let it in anyway, so it's always worth a shot. Everyone that I turned awy seemed to expect it, but were happy that we were providing a seperate place for them to park.

Ditto...it was a great time. Fool's bar was a blast and so was the pileup... the people that make it happen are worthy of high praise for all their efforts. Let the bitchers stand at the gate. Let's see how they do!

This was a first time for us too. My wife, daughter and I had a great time. There were a ton of cars there, some in the lot that I thought should have been in there and vise versa. Having helped with differant events before I have to give all involved top notch marks for a job well done. we had a great time and others I talked too had a great time as well. We will definately try to make it next year.

not that i don't stand behind shows in my own state, but have you ever been to the evansville show in indiana with the 4,000 plus cars? i mean there are alot on bolt together rides but there are alot of people that are the do it yourselfers as well who are just a sandblast away from having a rat. it'a friggin awesome show.

  9. Your a fucking moron! I really hope you offer your help to 100% inspect ALL cars before entering AND make sure there are not lines out to the parking lot......some people really need to think before puttin foot into mouth!

There were quite a few cool cars outside that simply just wanted to enjoy the show and had no interest in being inside. That's kind of what the show is about... driving there and having a good time

I sit here wondering just how miserable someone has to be to start a post like this.

  12. Right?????

I dragged my ass to work this morning.. exhausted and sore... but eager to get online and swap stories and memories with everyone and thank everyone for all of their hard work.... and this is the first post I see. Thanks JetDoc for a great start to my day. I am sure all of the volunteers who sacrificed precious hours out of their day were happy to read it as well.

But everyone else's wonderful comments prove what a great show it was... thanks all!

    Hey!
    That's our car. :)
I got that car in May. It was Rainbow Brite awful

We thought it was going to be a fairly easy paint job - sand and paint...but when we got into it, found a bunch of rust (of course). Matt welded a ton of patch panels in and Gary C has been awesome and done tons of work on it. Gary C does fantastic paint, but down to the wire, we only had time for him to do the primer..... heh.

We have lots of plans for this old shoebox!

  14. ...this is in no way a gripe, but it was pretty dusty: maybe when you get some dough saved up you could donate some to the Fairgrounds and they could spray some calcium chloride on the big gravel area to keep the dust down some. (blacktop would be better but that's not cheap), just a thot.
...Once again I want to thank all involved with the Pileup for THE greatest show in the midwest, the day goes by too fast and I can't believe it's over already!! What a great show!!!

Yeah, that was killer. I had heard the Warbird Beer guy was going to fly over in his T-6. I couldn't tell if one of them was his or not. Did you get any of the Warbird beer?

Not to mention it doesn't have a "pro stock" hood scoop. It's a '50's T-Bird hood scoop. They did have those "back in the day" you know. Geeesss.

the radial shirts were at the Hot Rod Chassis booth... at teh opposite end of the fairgrounds!

Hey Lost, your truck is really nice! There's some unwritten leeway for trucks since early 60s trucks pretty much look like later 60s trucks. I bet you thought you were being sneaky.

Those planes flying over were great! We need to coordinate something with them next year... maybe have them park in one of the side lots out front

Whatever!!!!!!!!!!! You guys did an awesome job this year and if someone is going to whine about a couple cars they can just stay home. Traditional shows around here are at a premium and none of us are perfect, so give us a break. I did parking this year and I am suprized these guys arent complaining that i parked the cars crooked. If I did I'm sorry and i will try to get it right next year. That fact of the matter is you don't know what it takes to stuff 800 cars onto 10 acres in 2 hours. So do us a favor and take a deep breath and say thanks for a great year before you decide to piss in our Cheerios. Just do what my friends and I did and make fun of the mis-placed schmuck all day.

    See ya next year guys!!!!

Django, I did get one. I won't drink it though. I'm not a beer drinker, and I like to collect pop and beer cans anyway. "Radials are for Girls?" You mean tires and not round engines on T-6s, Right? :D

Dutch Bastard I think I helped you find a parking spot at Fool's. For the love of God, I couldn't remember your name. Anyone who was at the bar MUST look at the video on his web site of what 30 Jager Bombs looks like. Looks like I left too soon.

That video is great I came across it yesterday while checking out some other posts. I was at the bar and can't figure out how I missed that performance.
