My kind of hot rod too. You’ll never beat the Honda in the next lane to the traffic light, but you will be infinitely happier getting there.
Looks like he’s parked it at doc’s house so there should be lots of locals to rat him out. What a great hot rod!
That's perfect. This summer while in CA for the LARS went to Stokers Hot Rod Shop's open house. They had a black on black on black with red wire wheels all Henry steel 34 FF roadster for sale. It was an older California Street Rods build form the late 90's but it was in great condition. I checked before we came home and David said it sold the same day (Thursday) as we looked at it. I think $73K ?
Makes a statement, one of those cars that stand out, but you are not sure why. It requires more than a second look.
I don't remember where I found this picture, but it's is my personal favorite. I think the black top makes a little more sinister than a tan/beige top.
Great looking car. I do think that the side curtains kill the look of the top with them on. They look sloppy. Am I wrong? But I guess if it's pouring you are going to want them. Ditto on the spare tire too. Amazing how us critics will never have one like it. HA!
Kool roadster for sure, but I'm not sure I can do the same puppy love gush about it. What I like: The Vinyard Green color The "chop" The iron heads (smart). The spare (minus the cover). What I don't like: The woodgrain ( what in every fuck?) The copper water tubes (satin stainless would be bitchin and cheap) The stance (needs a little ass-up) The woodgrain (what in every fuck?) The top profile (needs the main bow raised out just about an inch) Yeah, I know I said the woodgrain twice. The only talent of mine I do a little braggin about because it isn't braggin when you can back it up. Make no mistake, I dig it but when something is put up like this I take it as a sorta "whatcha think" topic. In my best Andrew DICE Clay impression, "Dat's what I tink." Thanks for the share chief...
Bitchin' Has that "it" look. The photographer knows what the hell he is doing. Background colors, focus angles, lighting........ Makes all the difference in presentation.
Nice car, there are a few things I don’t care for but it’s not mine and I didn’t pay the bills. I’ve posted before what my idea is of the perfect ‘34 roadster, I saw it in person 50 years ago and never forgot it.
It was probably a restored car that's been hot rodded a bit. Hence the presence of the spare tire, the woodgrain, the ash tray accessory radio, etc. Buy restored car, swap in a hopped-up 59A, drop the top, lower it a bit and Bob's your uncle.
I’m with Ryan, but if it was a condition of future ownership I could live wit a visible spare tire. Any one remember Dick Patton’s 34 roadster, early 70’s out of the Springfield Ohio area, a little bolder looking than these, but for its time….
Honestly. I actually LOVE the side-curtains… They’ve got the same gritty allure as a detective’s trench coat straight out of a noir flick, the kind where shadows stretch long and cigarette smoke curls up like a bad decision. It’s the kind of thing that makes me want to slink down alleys in the rain, keeping one eye on the shadows and the other on the dame who just walked into my life with trouble in her wake.
