Thanks, friend! Always stay local if possible!

What’s the temp in the barn? Are you and your bride surviving over yonder?

Yeah. Sorry for the mental imagery. Mike… be glad I didn’t use any Amish metaphors. I live in an Amish town and you should hear the jokes they make about the heat and humidity. Sheesh!

Brakes all together and all moves as it should. Emergency brakes hooked up and adjusted. Now to go through all the service brake adjustments.

    IMG_3647.jpeg

Once brakes are set, I can go through and cotter pin everything that’s going to be a pain to get to once the body is on. Which is everything.

THEN we can start assembling sheet metal and making this look like a car!

Great progress. I'm amazed how much you've accomplished out-of-doors.
I really need to get my act together.

Our acts all move at different speeds. It’s just about string in an hour to another hour. Thanks for the encouragement!

My dad always said it was better to be fast than half-fast.

There’s a lot of work in one of these period correct cars to go not very fast.

I think the next t-shirt will be “Amphetamine Bunny”. You know. All GOW’D UP! :p

How vital is it to have this perfectly vertical? I got a rod or two that’s just a bit short to reach the brake levers without being dangerously close to the end of the threads.

  12. I'd say that was perfect.

Are we talking the brake cross shaft arm is perfect… or my rugged good looks? :p

I think today is the day we get the brakes fully sorted. I’m so close! That will complete the chassis. Then we can start assembling the car and fooling with the banger. Exciting times!

My mechanical brakes look very similar to your photo and they work fine.

Thanks, Mitch. All the “tech” stuff aimed at restorers and such say the cross shaft should be vertical and all rods a precise measurement. That doesn’t always work with 94 year old parts! My engineering mind kicked in and said I’m ok… but doubt lingered.

Placing this here because I'll lose the envelope it's written on...

    NEXT TO DO:
    • Brake rods - set length and take up free play
    • Install return springs/anti-rattlers
    • Adjust brakes - per service procedure 60%+ Rear bias
    • Brake light switch
    • Cotter. Pin. Everything. Ugh.
    • Shocks - bend arms and install dog bones. May need hotter torch... Air/Acetylene might not do it. Oxy/Acetylene... small set up??
    • Install running board brackets. Need to knock out some old rivets.
    • Install splash aprons
    • Install radiator shell - new grommets and lacing
    • Install radiator apron - new felt
    • PREP BODY! HORRAY!
    • Brush paint body - what color...?
    • Transfer body to chassis
This may take two weeks. Or 6 months...

Sorry, missed this. Barn and shops are right warmish with no cross ventilation. We're doing fine even without AC-just fans. The bride! just celebrated her 51st anniversary at the seaside in Oak Island, NC along with all the kids, grandkids and partners. An, me,too.

    Hey @RyanAK
Bravo on the fine progress of this great project.
I assume that this unit, has been opened up and totally inspected by now?

I know that at this stage of the project, it may be on the back burner.
On another note, you might want to go check out my build thread on the antiquated section

Guaranteed to bring a smile to your face!
    Thanks from Dennis.

    Hey @RyanAK
Totally blown away by what has happened there in your area, its going to be a long recovery no doubt.
Let the HAMB universe know, about what ever you need, that we all can help with, in what ever capacity that is applicable !
After all of this over and kind of dried out, it might be a good thing to consider at some point in the future, about some higher ground to maybe get all of the parts together, to be at!
I know that sounds ridiculous at this point, but you get my point.
Hope Spencer is going to be reassured that it all will work out okay.
Positive thoughts to you and the family from Dennis.
