I made mine from a piece of burl maple. Turned it on a lathe and recessed a 1947 walking liberty half dollar into it. Coated in clear epoxy resin. Just gotta finish the car now so I can use it!

  9. Can't remember if I posted thsi before here. Couldn't find it in quick scan of all the pages so here it goes (again?).

I needed a clear barrel knob for my Ed Roth Mysterion reproduction. Much searching left me dry for any colored barrel. Finally found one with red ends on ebaY so I decided to get it and make my own clear ends caps.
I cast a silicone rubber mold from the red cap. Then I tried several clear resins before I found urethane made the clearest, water white caps. Worked perfectly.

    Here is Ed's knob

This is all I could find on ebaY

The outer castings are polyester clear resin castings. Really popular for making those ugly old 60s style clump of grapes hanging lamps. It yields a strong yellow cast. The two inner castings are urethane plastic resin. Just wnat I needed.

This is my resulting version. Perfect.

I also have some other devil, tiki, monster resins. I get to em when the mood hits. Also have a very nice correct stocker and a big 2 piece from an American Classic like a 30s V-12 Caddy.

  17. I think Hurst made brass ones, I've also seen black fuzzy ones, and of course a ton of aluminum ones.

I'd add knuckle holes and make it a quick disconnect.
