Maybe it's just me but does it seem a little strange to see a vehicle like this sell for almost $1M on Facebook Marketplace? Is that the place to sell million dollar vehicles these days? Not to say that this vehicle isn't worth that kind of money. Looks like a "no expense spared" restoration of a truly rare vehicle.
I was surprised as well, but I guess it’s a good place to start, as no fees involved, also no buyers premium or whatever it is that they do in USA with some auctions. And it would appear that they got a result in less than a week ! .
I avoid anything Facebook related as much as possible. But do they offer any kind of a formal, public auction service on Marketplace? Or do the seller and potential buyers just kind of conduct their own auction by private messaging. That would seem to open up all kinds of possible issues behind the scenes. This Futurliner looks like it was one owned by Peter Pan Bus Lines, a regional east coast charter bus line. They had restored it at one point in their own green and white livery as a promotional vehicle. Good to see it repainted in the original red and white GM color scheme.
Damn cool vehicle! Not worth $1,000,000 to me, but it says it was sold. Doesn't say what it sold for. I don't believe that price is the selling price.
The ad linked above gives the impression that it sold for $998,900. Maybe that was an asking price. But it also seems like you can post anything you want on Facebook without validation or a clear description. That's why I initially questioned the sale of a vehicle like this on Marketplace. It's not like they're selling a 2005 Buick.
