On this NEW Ford 351 W engine I am on my 3 rd NAPA mechanical fuel pump and none work--- looking for a American made one or suggestions other then the CHINA JUNK out there -- Thanks
I had fuel pump problems on my 60 Thunderbird and after I started running on alcohol gas they lasted, the alcohol eats up the rubber diaphragm.
I’d try one of the higher end Carter pumps. Either made in Korea, Mexico or China. I’ve been using the 120 gph model for at least 10-12 years with no issue and they are rebuildable.
I've gone thru a napa one and a O'Reilly one in a week.. when I remove the pump I'm going to check and see if I sheared the pin on thr eccentric for the fuel pump. You may check yours as well!
Bump. This is something I may also have to face soon - particularly as I'm in Europe and rather avoid the Chinese dragon dance if I can (delays, delays and more delays. Nothing like O'Reilly's here unfortunately (unless your car is European))...
Contact Charlie Schwendler, cas5845@yahoo.com. Charlie makes fuel pump diaphragms for early Fords from a material that is not affected by today's fuel. I am quite sure that Charlie can help you.
Rebuilders don’t usually don’t rebuild Chinese made pump. It your best bet to find an old original and have it done for modern fuels. I had Egge do a Y block for me because I didn’t want to mess with it at the time. There listers in Hemmings which will sell you the proper parts or rebuild it for you.
I'm in the same boat, so to speak, needing a good fuel pump. so ,why not a boat fuel pump.? Lots of watercraft came with small block Fords. Pumps look the same to me ,'cept for a vent to get fumes outta the bilge. Is the fuel sold at the docks the same ****py eth**** blend landlubbers use?
