I can’t believe that these guys are nearly 90 yrs old. I know I’m feeling my age….and I’m decades younger than those katz.

Happy New Year to Verno & BobWop,
    It’s 2024, The 50th anniversary of Pete & Jake’s.
Not that I’m in the running with my Coupe(s) to have anything ready for the anniversary, but it would be A great moment in time if your CK Coupe would be completed in time for a reveal @ their 50th anniversary with/with out an interior.. heck, it would look like the actual movie prop. Any project pix? IMG_0217.jpeg

Happy New Year! Vern is in the mood to get the car motivating this year. I doubt we will be that far along. There is no rush

    Hey @bobwop,
I figured that I’d share these pix that I took @ the GNRS this last month. I couldn’t help but think of your project in the making. I shot these with you in mind. Enjoy these shots. Thank you Kevin. We recently watched the movie. So many differences in the cars! We are going with the red painted wheels. We will be meeting next month to finesse the plan and renew the build

Hello everyone. I am working to finish up some loose ends on other projects so I can resume focus on Bob's 'Kid'.

The project is in the fitting fenders and running board phase.

    I did.

Vern has been building the Kid since before I moved.

No rush on my part. Having Vern build the Kid means a lot to me

The "Kid" was the Star of the movie, no one knew who Martin Sheen was??? Who.? Check out the side exhaust pipes!

Most people cite the non-functional side pipes, but most forget the little licks right after the name on the door both sides of the coupe

Looks like a branch. You have to wonder.

  20. I was driving a red '33 3 window (un-chopped :( ) when the movie came out. The next week I was in mom & dad's garage painting my own "Kid".. Just to be even more different - and still offer tribute to Pete's car - I modified my flames to follow the sweep of the front fenders down and then up by the rear fender.

Good luck with your build Bob; and enjoy the drive when she's done!

The reason my Deuce roadster is steel from Brookville and not a Wescott is the steel one was 600 dollars more. I owned a Wescott roadster in '80 and it was quite a well made body. I ran out of money and sold body and stage III frame from Deuce Factory to eat !

CYCLONE, thank you for showing me how to get deep into Jalopy Journal. I had no idea there was anything else but what was on the page. Our conversation last night was so educational. I'll be talkin' to you before long. Really enjoyed the education ! Tell Sharon hello and talk to y'all soon. Gary

I remember waking up one Saturday night to this late night movie. I thought I had died and went to Heaven.

I was able to get back on the Kid project for Bob for the next several weeks. Here is todays progress:

I mounted the passenger side running board (now both are done) and worked on fitting the tail lights.

These needed to be trimmed to clear the gas tank. I have an idea on the fill neck so it is both hidden and easily accessible. I don't want to go thru the trunk for a multitude of reasons.

With any luck, the body will be coming off the frame in the next week or so.

That's awesome Vern. It means a LOT to me that you discovered a few moments to work on the Kid. I know you have a lot going on!
