c10 350. If the fuel pressure is to high will it make the carb die out under load? Any help I would greatly appreciate. Rebuilt the carb idle and revs just fine. Put in gear and wants to load up and die. Fuel pressure is a steady 8lbs. Any ideas?

Fuel pressure seems a bit high, but don't think that is causing your problem...

Try weaker metering rod springs. When you put the trans in gear my first thought is the vacuum drops and the metering rod system opens. At least check vacuum with a gauge.

Depends on how much vacuum you have at idle.

I think Edelbrock says 4-6 PSI. As it pertains to the carburetor, maybe FP is increasing over the 8 psi you have.
Just a thought since the post was about the carburetor.

Lower the fuel pressure to the aforementioned 4-6 psi first, and foremost. Excessive fuel pressure will raise the fuel level in the bowl. If it's built to stock specs it should run just fine on a SBC.

If it doesn't run correctly, check the floats. Once you're positive you have those 2 things right, you can begin the troubleshooting process IF you still have a problem.....and don't go Holley.

Put a good pressure regulator with a gauge on there. Set it to 5.5 lbs.
I like the Holley 12-881 for these.

If your fuel pressure is too high and you balance it out to idle, yet it dies in gear, fuel is pushing past the needle and seat and leaking into the carb. This causes you to open the throttle plates up to keep it running when you are setting it up. Putting it in gear reduces the idle and the fuel overwhelms the engine, causing it to die.

As others have said, get the fuel pressure right and then go from there.
