I hauled a '64 Lark with a R1 289 and a few 289 cranks from near Chico a several years ago. Nice drive.

3 carb 4 seems like overkill. R they all working?

it's just a conversation piece, gives people something to say... that was the first thing I asked before I bought it... but no.... only one works...but the 3 x 2 manifold is pretty rare find... so It's staying...

Haven’t seen anything posted here for a while, I hope everyone is ok.
I pulled the hubs off of the 27 rear end yesterday. Drums are pretty rusty. Looks like it has been partially underwater. Everything is very worn out brake wise and rusty. Before I start trying to rebuild this mess, are there any other early Chevy brakes that are essentially a bolt on that would be an improvement? Or is it easier to change the rear end? I have disc wheels, but I also have a set of later wires. I have been told that all the brakes all the way up through the late 30s are a bolt on. If so does anyone know details. Thanks.

We are OK. Just a lot of what is left of life getting in the way. I found a guy I can work with to do some of the things around here that are keeping me out of the shop and holding up the roadster. Hope to be back on it soon soon. I have a series of treatments that start Tuesday. I apologize for the long dry spell.

I'm using a Dana 44 limited slip from a '68 GMC 4x4. I don't know what brakes if any will bolt up to a '27 rear end. Chevy ran Huck brakes from '39-'50 in pickups. Not sure about cars. I will run those on the front because my 19" wire spokes will fit them. The rears & later Bendix brakes are flatter in the bolt area so a spacer would be needed. Kinda' funny but the drums (all 4) are the same from '51-'70.

Thanks birddog! I'm looking for someone to do my next 20 radiation treatments. :D

I have been collecting parts of decades. I know there are some little things still needed but I don't know what they are. I have extras of lots of things. What I need most is a clean shop. I am incapable of clearing space to work. There is a fine line between a collector and a hoarder and I'm afraid I'm on the wrong side of that line.

How is your roadster? One of my favorites with such a great story.

Guess you'll have to just try harder n knuckle-down buying everything in sight, then showing it off, & telling everyone "it's not for sale - I'll build it someday!" :) . If you don't have at least 11 of everything, you ain't a hoarder... :) .
Comeon, man - get busy there... :D .

Damn dude so sorry to hear about the treatments. Hopefully everything goes well.

I moved out to the country like you did and am loving it. So much nicer driving the roadster out here. I picked up my next main project and am excited about the build!

Oh, I'm busy enough. The roadster just doesn't get its turn. Treatments will be done Sept. 20th. Hopefully there won't be bad side effects and they won't last long. It is like winter here today reminding me sunshine & warmth moving away for the year. Got to get my lathe back together in order to finish the pegboard so I can hang stuff on the walls in order to find the roadster. It is in there somewhere.

That is a cool coupe. What's the plan.

If my friends get my projects I hope it is while I'm still here to see how bad they screw it up.

Had a great time this afternoon. Another old friend passed and left his combination mill/lathe to Leroy. 5 geezers showed up to move it out of a bed room & to its new home. Talk about too many chiefs!! Way more ideas than action. The youngest was in his 60s. What was needed was 1 old guy (any one of us) and 2 teenagers. No one got hurt and no machines or tools were broken.

He had been sick for years and just getting worse. He was a machinist and ran a big shop until a couple of years ago. He set up a small shop in a spare bed room and kept on making chips till near the end. We'll miss him so we took his stuff. :(:eek:o_O

My shop has one of those Ass Whole's Garage signs. Need to change it to Dead Ass Wholes' Garage. I just hope they taught their tools well. I have some doubts about the second donor, the gunsmith who broke his lathe. Having a hell of a time finding a gear.

Is that a bronze Gear?? If so, it is fixable. Or it can be copied and re-casted.

I don't know Larry. It is somewhat flexible because it is no longer round. I thought of repairing just the 3 broken teeth.

This is why you always have to make new friends, so when you die there is someone left to take your tools. :D

That and the outside is no longer round. If it was just the shaft bore I could ream and bush it. There's one for sale on eBay for the same model but it is a different version of the same model. I found a couple of videos on line. One is a guy making the same gear on the same Jet mill that I have. Another is someone using a hob. I think I could make a hob from the worm gear. They are available. When we picked up the combination mill/lathe Saturday I made a quick deal for a whole lot of brass, bronze, steel, and aluminum. There is enough brass and bronze to make a bucket full of these gears.

I should never have torn into this until the shop was clean.
