Hum... I had the settings wrong on my media settings. I've not been on the H.A.M.B. in about 10 years. I'm wanting to get back into it. My son is interested in traditional hot rods so we are getting back into the scene. The car I posted is my mild custom built 56 Ford...

I do too! Usually a beat up old Corolla that gets 40mpg. Every now and then the old Y Block needs to stretch it's legs though...

  8. yeah I wont take anything old/nice to work anymore. Worked moved our office into the middle of downtown Portland and we now have a small section of one floor in a narrow parking garage. Plus usually once a week coming in there will always be fresh door glass littering the street near the entrance from cars being broke into on the street level parking.

No When I drive my favorite I don't want to go there.
When I am there I don't need the distraction of the citizens curiosity.

I get that. On the flip side though, it can give something to look forward to on the ride home. Especially when one has limited time to cruise due to a busy schedule.

No - getting my dumb ass to work is the purpose of the sacrificial daily driver. :)

Thanks on the grill and caps. I tried to keep a period look that also tied the lines together. The grill, caps, lake pipe plugs and even the original Fairlane trim have this rounded yet linear look...

I haven’t driven anything in a while, but this was my daily for a year or so recently no matter the weather. I have also used my 56 as backup transportation anytime my late model junkers are down.

Not a custom, but this is my daily driver, including to work. It has AC, for the brutal summer months here in Florida. D4A3B683-2673-4CD4-A98B-2C98B32B9334.jpeg

Not that my cars are necessarily traditional customs, but several have been in the parking lot at work other than my Thunderbird that was there every day. If I worked closer to home, I would likely have an old car in the parking lot every day even now. But, 60 miles and bad gas mileage have kept me from doing that regularly.

When I was an engineer I bought my first “fun car” a 1953 ford Victoria, black with white top. That was my daily driver. It convinced others to take the plunge and buy non-practical cars. Years later when a modern truck replaced the ford it was totaled by a teenage driver so I bought the Chrysler 300 convertible in my avatar. Fridays was go out to lunch day and I always had a full car with the top down going to lunch.

You got to drive em folks!

  30. Since I started working at 16 I usually had the oldest car in the car park at my workplaces. Most times it was pre-1965, but for a while I had succumb to the "reliable family friendly FWD car" myth, while the kids were small, but even that car was about 20 years old at the time. I came back to my senses a short while later, and now retired, and my newest car is made in 1960. Any excuse to drive one nowadays, sometimes I go to the store to get milk, and end up going for an afternoon drive.
