Hot Rods New deuce Vicky owner

  1. Today was a paint day on the Vicky. Sprayed the firewall with Wimbledon white and kind of looks more yellow then white but it definitely matches the body colour…lighting. Jeremy Mang #victoryrodandcustom repaired the drivers side kick out that the po had cut out for the steering column install. He also ground down the welds from the modification when the nailhead was installed again by the po. Painted all the front end parts and the Okie Joe axle was tweaked as it was not straight in a couple measurements.

  2. Today was dash day on the Vicky. IMG_8675.jpeg #victoryrodandcustom managed to massage the 3 window dash to fit closer to the windshield plus welded the inset for the 1934 Buick instrument panel. Long day and he will finish it up on Monday. Intentions are to complete the front axle install, bleed the brakes, put the nailhead and Tremec 5 speed back in so it can leave as he has other projects patiently waiting.

  3. A better pic of the actual colour of the firewall compared to the body.

  6. The Vicky is back home after a long visit to #victoryrodandcustom for much needed work. The plan is to finish it to the point of driving so it can make it to Ocean Park Ford in September. Very happy with all,the work and hours Jeremy Mang put in to get it back on the road. IMG_8689.jpeg IMG_8690.jpeg IMG_8691.jpeg IMG_8692.jpeg IMG_8695.jpeg IMG_8697.jpeg IMG_8698.jpeg

  7. Lots of loose ends to tie up and the 34 Buick panel is in. Not liking the black paint and will rethink what to do once my new garage is finished and I have a better place to work on it.

  9. 3 window dash is painted and back in the Vicky. Next task is to sort through the wiring.

  11. Not a lot of progress over the last month due to an unforeseen situation. I am not a fan of the AN braided hose and fittings the po had used to get fuel to the carbs. After 6 different fittings from Edelbrock, another story in itself and 4 original nailhead fuel pumps, I have gotten a system that I am happy with. A new replacement nailhead fuel pump has 5/16” inlet and 3/8” outlet fuel fittings. Originals are made for 3/8” inlet and outlet. Makes zero sense to me and now I need to bend the fuel line from the pump to the carbs. IMG_9183.jpeg IMG_9204.jpeg

Tidy up the fuel lines with jic and steel lines. Very cost effective IMG_4931.jpeg

Any consideration of adding fenders and running boards?

  16. Not on my watch. I am a huge fan of the Rolling Bones and this is as close to one as I will ever get

  17. Rewired the Airguide tach today to keep with the cloth covered wire theme.

Is that the original box for the airguide tach? I have one that I have built into my panel, just not sure how to wire it.

  19. No. Previous owner had one made for it by Bobs Speedometer in the US who I need to contact

  20. I tucked the tail lights further back today IMG_9408.jpeg IMG_9409.jpeg IMG_8694.jpeg as in my opinion they looked goofy hanging out in mid air.

Finding the right balance between ‘looks’ and ‘safety’ is key.
I find most of the ‘near misses’ (accidents) that I experience are idiots not paying attention to my brake lights and needing to slam on their brakes so they don’t rear-end me.
It’s gotten so bad in the last ten years that I’ve actually started using LEDs in my tail-lights to reduce these incidents (seems to be working, fingers crossed). I’ve even considered putting a hidden LED third brake light in my back window. LEDs look like shit, but I’ve had way too many near misses!
Tucking your tail lights in looks better, but I sure hope you’re not sacrificing max safety.
When you walk around the back of your car, how are the visibility angles to see both lights?

  22. I have considered led bulbs as well and will see how they look once 12 volts finds its way to them. Definitely don’t want to get hit from behind either. The way they were on there was good for a full fender with bumper car but I didn’t like them hanging out there.

  23. Spent a couple hours massaging carriage bolts to replace the hex heads that secure the spreader bars. I don’t own a lathe so lots of hand filing, hacksawing and grinding to make them look decent.

  24. Your tailights should be bright enough with 1157 bulbs, IF you paint the inside of the bucket gloss white.
Just use a 1/2" brush and a 1/2 pint can of gloss white rustoleum. Paint everything that is hidden by the lens and bezel except the socket.

Nice! have you given any thought to relocating the fuel tank? Whilst we all have different tastes Highboy Vickys and most 30s Highboy Fords look great with that short tail sans the gas tank.

  29. I have but am torn. I like the Rolling Bones style cars, thus no tank and I like the stock look of a 32 with the tank.
