My ´59 Impala, bought from a hamber Fedsled, arrived on Friday. Here´s what it looks now... It´s pretty obvious that the damage has happened at the container yard before loading cars into the container. My best quess so far is a forklift... I have already contacted my shipping company and insurance things are in progress. We will see what happens next.

holy ****... thats no ****ing joke.... i sold a few cars on ebay, and both times i was nervious about the dudes at the transport company ****ing up the cars. i knew something was fishy when they put the 57 cadillac eldorado barittz convertable onto the 3 car trailer with a 1000lb come-a-long. then the 53 chevy they put those little 1 inch steel things in the holes on the crossmember and started tightening it down........ i wouldnt trust those rusty old holes to hold! im suprized the people even got the cars!

someone deserves to be tortured over that, accident or not fingers need to be broken...that isn't just a little damage either, and it couldn't have been a worse spot on a '59 to get hit in...best of luck man, and I hope that insurance company pays out the nose...

Whoa! I don't suppose there were some "before" shots taken just prior to shipping the insurance company is sure to ask for are their? Did you have to sign some sort of waver with the shipping company? ****, I hope not. That's rough. Sorry to hear and see that.

  10. Damn, I have never had a vehicle damaged by the shipping company, but I have never shipped one vai container either. Are the first three characters on the trailer plate WAM? Sorry, just trying to lighten the situation a little. Good luck man, Chip.

Yes, I should have known better. Friday 13th and a trailer with a plate like that... Something burns, I smell smoke... I had some before-photos, hope they´re enough. No waivers, though. They asked me to send some photos and and an estimate, you can be sure the total wasn´t small... Even the value drop by one Nada cl*** for never-before-crashed car is 4G´s. That´s not the easiest bodywork either. And the car had just been painted, which needs to redo now. As said, we´ll see what happens next. Not too much to do right now, just waiting.

  13. To the transport people your just another job hauling an old car.good luck

    HEY!!!
    Good news!
I just happen to have that peice of that panel literaly sitting at my feet! we had been using the flat part as patch panels ofr other cars, but it looks like everything you need is right here!

we cut apart a VERY rusty 59, and I kept this part because the compound curves make for nice patches (I know,I know...sacrilidge, but it lives on in about 10 other cars right now...)

if you figure out what it would take for shipping from 78702 to your door, I will sell it to you for that, and the price of a really big box. and some bubble wrap.

it ain't perfect, but it is better than what you have by a damn sight.

Lemme see if I can get some pictures together.

This is serious ****. I've seen a lot of cars arrive in containers that had been dented or otherwise damaged when loaded and tied down. Sometimes they use chains to prevent the car from moving sideways in the container and these chains can do a lot of damage if the guy is too stupid to do it right. But I've never seen **** like this.

  28. First off that ****s sorry to see that careless damage. But I am always amazed at the generosity here on the Hamb that’s way cool LuxBlue way cool of you for sure, I mean there is A LOT of work there to be done now.

    no sweat.

I have from the third farthest trim hole back- and all the way into the middle of the tail light. The very bottom has some rust, but not terrible, and the top of the fin...well, there is a solid 10 inches of it there, after that...well, that's what I was cutting the patches out of.

however, all of the "hard creases" would be confined to what is straight on mine. all of the pinch weld spots are good, and there is even some of the original inner structure from the rear back here, too. I would probably throw a patch panel into the bottom, but it does not appear to be "too ****ed" to work with.

Like I said-it's not perfect, but ***uredly better than what you have!
